I just watched Turturro's picks. It is easily one of the best criterion closet videos ever. I am happy that someone else other than me thinks how much underseen/underrated "Shoeshine" (1946) is even today. It is easy to overlook because of other classics by De Sica. In the same way, I love how much Turturro rates Gian Maria Volonté, who was one of the underrated stars of his era. One new thing I learned from this video is Kubrick's love for Francesco Rosi- who happens to be one of my favourite Filmmakers. Also the way Turturro talks about Bresson makes me feel that he might be one of his favourite filmmakers. Seems like Turturro & I have similar taste in movies.
