My strategy in the face of uncertainty:
TLDW:
Get comfortable with change. If your identity is tied too strongly to being an indie hacker, a solopreneur, or any particular role, you鈥檙e going to have a tougher time than someone who鈥檚 adaptable.
Reduce the gap between your taste and your actual skills. The ideas in my head are usually much better than what I can put into reality, so I鈥檓 focused on getting reps and improving every day.
Increase your luck surface area. Build things, put them into the world, share them with people, get feedback, post online, go places, make friends, and meet people. No one is going to show up at your door unannounced.
Take more shots on goal and make small bets. Test ideas against reality, listen for signal, figure out what seems promising, and keep going.
Accept that you can鈥檛 predict or control the future. You can control what you do today, exercise your agency, improve your odds, and be ready when an opportunity arises.
Look for the opportunities created by the change itself. Maybe coding is becoming a commodity. What does that allow you to do now that you couldn鈥檛 do when software took so long or cost so much to build?
Don鈥檛 make decisions out of fear or scarcity. Ground yourself, focus on what you can control, and do the best work that you can.
I'm seeing a trend here of declining revenue and traffic with indiehackers
On my own projects too
Maybe big VC products too but I wouldn't know cause they don't share revenue
To me it seems clear BigAI is cannibalizing everything that used to be apps
Not bad btw, just times are changing and we have to adapt
