I run @PopVaxIndia (popvax.com) – we develop mRNA vaccines and therapeutics using computational protein design. I write at infinitesunrise.com

Hyderabad / Mumbai
On August 31, the first two participants were injected with @PopVaxIndia’s first fridge-stable RNA vaccine candidate in a Phase I clinical trial in Australia. We built this vaccine at our RNA Foundry in Hyderabad – from computational design to GMP manufacturing. Here's how:

Kiran and her team developed India's first novel cancer therapies two decades ago -- we're honoured to be following in their footsteps!
Kudos to @sohamsankaran for this cutting edge endeavour

I am ridiculously excited to watch this!
So, we have made something truly awesome. For 18 months, we've followed the rise of robot fights in SF and beyond. The result is an 8-part docuseries. Part drama. Part tragedy. Part comedy. A very human story with robots in between. piped.video/watch?v=SXo3vqC7…

No offence but can we get a walkable footpath in juhu before we get a floating billboard
🚨 Mumbai will get floating advertising barges & hoardings at waterfront sites across Juhu, Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

Japanese chipmaker Rapidus was founded in August 2022, and by mid 2025, they had a 2nm process working on a pilot line. Worried by India’s lack of compute sovereignty, I asked a professor of mine why we couldn’t replicate this effort- he answered with one word - Talent. Japan has been working with semiconductors since basically the invention of the transistor- consequently they’ve developed individual and organisational knowhow and tacit knowledge on how to build this industry - this looks like individual engineers knowing how to optimise a dose matrix, identify lithographic defects, figure out which step led to a bad IV curve- but also organisations as a whole having the knowhow and discipline on how to make ultrapure chemicals, how to decontaminate a part and how to install and maintain equipment. To develop the talent you need the ecosystem that can train the knowhow, and to develop the ecosystem you need the talent- this is a chicken and egg problem. In August 2025, we started @hackerfabindia and have been building open source equipment to fabricate semiconductors. Simultaneously, @itsarnavb and @_lagrangepoint have been working on discovering and nurturing talent all over the country. Arnav and I sat down a couple of months ago, and brainstormed how we can solve this chicken and egg problem - and Junction is the fruit of that discussion. We will bring the best and brightest builders from colleges all over the country under one roof, and equip them with funding and mentorship from experts in academia and the industry. The idea is to get the hands-on knowledge, context and confidence by building small projects now- to go on to building big, frontier projects in the industry. We hope for Junction to spring up many chapters of HackerFab all over the country - centres which will mirror this ethos of learning by building- while being linked to India’s larger semiconductor mission. If India in 2026 can start building a pipeline producing the best semiconductor talent - it’s exciting to think about where that gets us 10-15 years from now. The journey from sand to superintelligence is driven by talent, and Junction is where talent comes together. The current in a PN junction diode takes off exponentially once the threshold voltage is crossed -- the journey for India’s Semiconductor Mission to cross its threshold is a challenging one. Join and help us catalyse it!
Launching Junction: come speed-run the semiconductor tech tree this December in Bangalore. We’re flying in students from all over India 🇮🇳 to a 2-week fabrication retreat at @_lagrangepoint to build equipment, design chips and engineer processes, with our friends at @hackerfabindia. India still needs thousands of semicon engineers -- the ecosystem to produce them isn’t mature enough yet -- we're changing that. Current applicants have built vacuum chambers to study plasma physics, RISC-V processors from scratch, scanning tunneling microscopes, et cetera At junction you will: 1. Propose a project 2. Figure out a plan with the Junction team. 3. Iterate fast towards a working prototype, with help from the Junction team 4. Be mentored by top semiconductor hackers and specialists. 5. Demo to industry leaders, founders, investors, and your fellow craftspeople Flights, accommodation and project expenses? All covered. Apply on the link below

Exciting stuff from Viswa and his team @enveda! If you're working at the intersection of chemistry, biology, and machine learning, consider joining the challenge!
Chemistry needs its Alpha Fold moment. We’ve had the data and the algorithms, we now have the benchmarks and the out-of-train test sets thanks to tireless work by @davidwhealey @augustallen and the ML team @enveda. Join the >3000 teams in trying to crack the problem!

“If we can predict the [protein's] shape, we can design a drug that recognizes the harmful form and leaves the healthy one alone.” A Hopkins-led team backed by up to $52M from @ARPA_H will build an AI model to decode how proteins misfold in Parkinson’s, cancer, and other diseases. bit.ly/4zMyCdb

Despite staggering advances in basic science, drug development research is only getting slower. The main culprit? Increasing clinical trial timelines. The median clinical development pathway has increased from 8.4 years to 9.3 years and pipeline creation has slowed 32% even as R&D spend has gone up. This is the point I keep making about the main bottleneck to drug discovery and why AI on its own won't be enough. These timelines aren't going anywhere (ofc AI can be used creatively to ease such bottlenecks -- eg via better endpoints that allow smaller cohorts for trials, followed up for shorter periods of time).

Working on the vaccines part of this @PopVaxIndia supported in large part by Vitalik and Balvi, and would strongly recommend others jump in and work in all of these areas as well!
For anyone getting into biology, please consider taking airborne disease resistance more seriously. It's a super important area of medicine that is a huge cause of death and sickness but easily gets forgotten. We're likely to get many more airborne plagues in the future due to the combination of not just extremely dense and interconnected society (including city and farm animals), but also accidents from bio research and offensive biotech (both from random people and from secret government programs that can easily get themselves exempted from safety restrictions), all enhanced by powerful AI. Right now, this area is getting way less love than longevity research (which continues to be super important!), but it's an area where there are lots of unclaimed wins that we know exactly how to do (but are not yet doing) with present-day tech: * early detection * passive universal testing * filtration/ventilation/UVC * better vaccines (including making them open source and open science) * cryptography to make all of the above privacy-preserving We can have China-level pandemic resistance with Sweden-level limited intrusion into people's lives, and then go even further. We just have to actually do the work for it.

Going for a walk in India often feels like a video game. On the footpath you're dodging: - Holes - Hoardings - Construction - Electrical boxes And when you finally give up and hit the road you're brushing shoulders with autos, wrong-side drivers, buses and water tankers.

A new oral peptide called Icotrokinra completely cleared psoriasis in 27% of patients after 16 weeks. And 50% saw at least 90% improvement. All from a once-daily pill!

One of Samarth's most intriguing ideas -- we've been talking about it for months. Well worth the read!
It may be possible to train music generation models which have a shot at treating, and perhaps even preventing Alzheimer's. It'd take ~$5m to build and run trials for what could become one of the most widely deployed public health interventions. jajoo.sh/gamma
