You can watch a man that just lost his mother instantly transform. It’s bewitching to watch as he gets back into his work. He speaks differently. His eyes a bit out of focus. As if the weight of the ocean of life hollows him out. He becomes as large as the universe itself.

Zed is my daily driver. I couldn’t have been happier to finally move away from nvim (I get my life back). But the UI’s been sluggish lately when an agent runs procs taking GBs of RAM. RSS pressure accumulates up the chain. This is the hill I’ll die on. Editors need to be snappy, instantaneous, always. I might peak under the hood. Something’s off.
Arriving this Zednesday: a dedicated action to toggle block comments. `cmd-k, cmd-/` (or `ctrl-k, ctrl-/`)

Rust Community vs Wikipedia Mods vs Reddit Mods vs Nix “Community Team” Ultimate showdown. Who wins?
Thank you @BrodieOnLinux for covering the Wikipedia fiasco for Odin. We don't particularly care if Odin is on Wikipedia or not; especially when Wikipedia itself is rarely reliable, but we've been dealing with Wikipedia mods for years.

Obviously I have a lot of love for Rust - look at my OS projects - but this fact (and it’s a fact at this point) has to be one of the most annoying technical phenomenons I’ve come across. Why does Rust exhibit this maybe more than any other community out there? My gut tells me that the “culture,” and in this way similar to Nix, is utterly entitled and obnoxious. It’s hard to separate “Rust” from “Rust community.” Look at their recent drama with the foundation. The community’s leadership is partly made up of cracked devs who ship, and cracked devs who ship and then won’t shut up about things entirely outside the code and what the code is supposed to do.
Replying to @thdxr
As a generalization, the rust community is the most insecure community. Consistently on defense for no reason at all.

Well written article and the subject matter might be interesting to anyone that considers themselves an engineer.
This blog does a great job explaining and exampling (?) the benefits of using @ApacheDataFusio to build systems: thedataquarry.com/blog/dataf…

🪐 ndatafusion is out! A Rust crate that brings linalg & ML to @ApacheDataFusio, powered by my other crate, nabled. The goal: if ur already in the DataFusion 🌎 you shouldn’t have to leave it to do serious numerical work. crates.io/crates/ndatafusion github.com/georgeleepatterso…

@andrewlamb1111 Would love to hear any feedback if you get a chance to have a look! This is the second tier above my other rust crate nabled for an ecosystem I am building that will use DataFusion at its core. crates.io/crates/nabled

You know what’s funny, I actually use the inverse of line count to parametrize an agent’s work. Negative line count. “Take what you did and do it in half the lines.” So much BS out there.

Paid adverse advertisement. The codefluencer space is so grimy in many ways. @supabase is excellent, choose the tool that works for you.

This is great if they also research how they can resolve this. Just like anything with engineering, design trumps convention every time.
AI can make work faster, but a fear is that relying on it may make it harder to learn new skills on the job. We ran an experiment with software engineers to learn more. Coding with AI led to a decrease in mastery—but this depended on how people used it. anthropic.com/research/AI-as…

there's a group of people who are getting very used to the idea of getting $2000 of inference a month for $200 "costs going down" doesn't help - they're expecting 10x value on what they pay i wonder where this ends

Moar. Just keep doing it. I love it. If they absorb the entire shit JS ecosystem, I’ll use them like cargo
In the next version of Bun Bun gets a built-in, native Markdown parser - a Zig port of the popular `md4c` library.
