Which man will get up and say he’s going to use his hard earned money to go on a solo date to buy tiramisu 600 cedis, or cocktail 250 cedis. There’s something called marketing and marketing targets an audience and for many of these Accra restaurants it’s definitely not hardworking young men. The tarket market are those who have access to the disposable incomes; 1. Young employed or entrepreneurial women working hard and building their social standing among their peers by posting new places they go to on social media 2. Daughters of rich fathers in their 40s-50s where the dads are happy to simply send money for comfort. 3. Young women dating sugar daddies who have enough disposable income not to care about expensive brunches and dinners. 4. Women dating men with a lot of disposable income in general hence it’s more or less a joint activity where one is incurring the costs and sponsorship pains. Now the demographic is the same. Young women. 17-32 years. So to keep their attention the restaurants must be able to quickly adapt. It’s the novelty that’s the attraction. New food trends with the usual “come with me to this place” or “will you believe it if I got all this for…” or “there’s a hidden gem in town…” Who are the major propagators? Women influencers.

📍 Gwollu Market Peace isn’t built in meetings, it’s built where people live, work, and trade. Our trained youth champions took to the market to talk about peaceful coexistence and why every voice matters including the Fulbe community.
