More safeguards in place to protect our ethical standards. Big changes happening.
Australia: Australian Research Council chairman Peter Shergold has championed a crackdown on foreign research collaborations, as the science funding agency sets new safeguards to protect the public from terrorism, cyber attacks and espionage.
Warning of the rising risk of foreign interference in universities, Professor Shergold said researchers can no longer claim they are “innocently getting into these relationships’’.
“The world has changed significantly in the last few years so that things that may have been acceptable 10 years ago clearly now have a much greater risk attached to them,’’ he said.

I used AI to map out the tunnels nearest to the Langtang Lirung mountain as the crow flies and came across 5 Chinese tunnels in and around the Kyirong area.
This is not to say the tunnels caused the collapse but it is interesting to see so many tunnels in the area.

The Tibet–Nepal floods have exposed a much bigger question: who controls Asia’s water?
In a heated debate, Arnab Goswami challenged Victor Gao over China’s upstream projects, hydrological data, Tibet’s rivers, the Nepal floods and China’s growing water footprint across the Tibetan Plateau.
The CCP controls the source, infrastructure and vital river data while downstream nations face the risks. From the Brahmaputra to rivers feeding South Asia, Beijing’s dam-building and environmental exploitation of Tibet could have consequences far beyond its borders.
Now add Pakistan and the Indus Waters Treaty to the equation. Water is increasingly becoming a geopolitical weapon.
Tibet is Asia’s Water Tower. Beijing must not be allowed to turn its rivers into instruments of coercion.
