Today, Minister of Defence Tore O. Sandvik welcomed Italy’s Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, to Oslo for a constructive meeting on strengthening Norwegian-Italian defence cooperation🇳🇴🇮🇹
Discussions focused on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the importance of security in the Arctic and High North, and opportunities for closer cooperation in several relevant areas, including space and industry.
Building on the shared priorities highlighted during Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s visit to Norway in September, the meeting underlined the importance of close cooperation between NATO Allies in addressing our common security challenges and strengthening Europe’s defence capabilities.
A stronger Europe means a stronger NATO. Norway and Italy have complementary expertise and a shared interest in a strong, resilient European defence industrial base and a secure and stable High North and Arctic.
