Proud for Dr Ragnhild Sætra who recently defended her PhD work on #Mtb and cell death. And thanks to @maxgabgut and Petr Broz @broz_lab for excellent opposition!
Session 7 continues with an engaging keynote lecture by Vishva Dixit. Following this,Trude Helen Flo dives into the control of mycobacterial infection by inflammasomes. Finally, Elizabeth Turcotte will give a short talk related to NAIP-NLRC4 inhibition by shigella.
Attention TB friends!

A favorite meeting #EESImmunity, thanks for having me, I'll surely come back next time! Great feedback on our work on Mtb cell death and new ideas and collaborations for future exciting work.
4th EMBO|EMBL symposium on Innate Immunity in Host-Pathogen Interactions has begun. Splendid keynote by Dominique Soldati-Favre on Toxoplasma. Parasites are new to our meeting, in line with our philosophy to discuss GENERAL principles of host pathogen interactions.

We selected 22 short and 20 flash talks for the EMBO|EMBL symposium on Innate Immunity in Host-Pathogen Interactions (Heidelberg 18-21.6.24). Really difficult due to the super-high quality of the >200 submissions. Invitations to be sent soon! @EMBL@EMBOembl.org/about/info/course-a…
🎉Big day for the lab yesterday. Very proud of our newly minted PhD @berenaylan@TheCrick A bright future ahead Beren!🤩 thanks to @trudeflo@TRRC_LMCB for being excellent examiners
Love host-pathogen interactions? I have TWO MRC-funded postdoc positions to investigate IFNs and Salmonella. I’m looking for a cell biologist and an immunologist. Links below, reach out if you have any questions-Please RT!

New paper alert‼️ #ImmunoMetabolismPower#EpigeneticPower! Excited to share our latest paper showing that host-derived oxidized phospholipids produced in response to pathogen encounter initiate effector-triggered immunity & cause the death of the host 1/9 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Look at this👇 Human caspase 4 - but not mouse caspase 11 - cleaves pro-IL-18, allowing human macrophages to secrete IL-18 independent of inflammasome-activation!
