We interrupted our content engineers for a very important reason 👀 It's Cyber Awareness Month, and who better to get cyber security advice from than the people who build our hacking challenges? 🔐
We put Tom, our Content Engineering Manager, on the spot for his top cybersecurity tip.
Here's what he had to say. 🎤👇

🖥️ PowerShell Constrained Language Mode exists to stop attackers using the full .NET runtime. Three techniques break it. Learn all of them and what traces each one leaves behind 👉 tryhackme.com/room/constrain…
🧵 Constrained Language Mode is one of Microsoft’s most effective PowerShell hardening controls. It’s also not a silver bullet.
The bypass techniques aren’t exotic. They use legitimate Windows components - InstallUtil, trusted paths, compiled .NET in ways the control wasn’t designed to catch. What makes this room different is the defender’s perspective. Every bypass leaves traces. Knowing what those traces look like is what turns a hardening control into a detection opportunity.
Break it to understand it. Understand it to defend it. 🖥️
🧵 Here’s what you’ll practice in Constrained Language Mode Bypass 👇
⚙️ Host a full language runspace via InstallUtil
📁 Escape Constrained Language Mode through a writable trusted path
🔄 Flip language mode with a compiled .NET module
🔴 The Red Queen locked everything down. The only way out is through the binaries. Learn to reverse-engineer your way to freedom 👉 tryhackme.com/room/redqueenp…
🧵 Here's what you'll practice in Red Queen Protocol 👇
🔍 Static binary analysis with Ghidra
🐛 Dynamic debugging with GDB and GEF
🧮 Symbolic execution with angr
🧵 Most security professionals can read code. Far fewer can read a binary.
Reverse engineering is what happens when there is no source code, no comments, no variable names, no documentation. Just compiled instructions and the techniques to make sense of them.
Static analysis tells you what the binary contains. Dynamic debugging tells you what it does at runtime. Symbolic execution tells you every possible path through it.
Learn all three. See everything. 🔴
