For new code a better solution is to return a dataclass, from the dataclasses module. dataclass is a class decorator and creates simple object abstractions over data. It provides type information (uses type annotations) and makes it easy to add methods too. #Python

Functions that already return tuples can be upgraded to using namedtuple and remain backwards compatible. The trouble with a function returning a tuple is that adding additional data, new return values, is then backwards incompatible with code that does tuple unpacking. #Python

You can add utility to your code by switching to named tuples (from the collections module) instead of returning a tuple. Named tuples are a subclass of tuple, so all existing code continues to work. namedtuple is a class factory - it makes and returns classes. #Python

Returning tuples combined with tuple unpacking is a lovely Python language feature. It looks and feels like returning multiple values. Note that it is the comma that makes the tuple not the parentheses!

The most confusing error message in Python is multiple inheritance with metaclasses. So we take a look here at metaclasses, and let this serve as a salutary reminder to steer clear of multiple inheritance and metaclasses. piped.video/4t6yzCCQ76I
