Last night, the most insane thing happened since I started living in Austin.
I've lived in the same building overlooking the Congress bridge for the last 5 years. Nearly every night I see a crowd of people lining up on the bridge so they can see when the bats fly away in the evening.
Despite living right here, I've NEVER actually seen the bats. They don't fly up this high and I haven't bothered waiting by the bridge myself.
Last night, about 10 minutes after midnight (so when it officially turned to Halloween), the bats SWARMED my window over 30 stories high. They were running into my window for nearly an hour straight.
I had never seen the bats, and I get a swarm of them as soon as it becomes Halloween??? Crazy stuff.
Happy Halloween!
