Favorite play so far: That's Quay Scott at linebacker and 6'1", 240 Jamien Risher blowing up a double-team after lining up at corner.
Watching the SC defense Saturday. Quick observation:
J'Zavien Currence is all over the place. Fits the run like a linebacker, can blitz, good in coverage, one of the first to react every play.

Weird week for the private schools. Christ School continues to impress. Cannon looks great, too. Not that anyone expected Providence Day to struggle going forward when the Chargers face anyone other than a superteam, but nice bounce-back, nonetheless.

6A also feels wide open. Scheduling inequity rules here. Dudley might be a top-3 team that played elite 7A/8A teams. Kings Mountain and Asheville had the signature wins. KM *might* be a perennial title contender going forward.

Controversial No. 1 here. There's a gap between 1 and 2, and another between 3-6ish and the rest. Will Millbrook get the offense going? The defense looks even better than last year. Good wins by West Charlotte and Palisades over SC teams.

Great wins by Weddington, Gibbons, Garner, Clayton, Reagan, New Bern. 7A again looks like the best top-to-bottom class. Grimsley had its scare and survived. I do think Weddington is constructed in a way that it can beat the Whirlies. Likely? No. Possible? Yes.

1 vs. 2 in two weeks! Southern Alamance looks great. Dudley finally faced a non-elite team and handled business. Kings Mountain and its merry band of freshmen look good. There are probably 10 teams that have an argument for the 8-10 spots.
