Never fun when you see a guy head down from the NHL after a long tenure with the big club, but Big Mac is a pro, an amazing human and leader and is beloved in Hershey. His presence is massive. Thrilled to have #42 back in the Chocolate and White!
The Capitals have loaned defenseman Dylan McIlrath to Hershey. Welcome back, Mac!

Dylan McIlrath is on waivers today. @TheHersheyBears captain of back-to-back Calder Cups in 2023 and 2024. Stalwart at the AHL level on the backend and an amazing leader and person. If he clears tomorrow at 2, will be a massive get for Hershey.
The plan for now is to carry 3 goalies on the #ALLCAPS roster—Logan Thompson, Charlie Lindgren and the newly acquired Remi Poirier, per Coach Spencer Carbery.
To accommodate Poirier, the team will waive Dylan McIlrath later today, Carbery said.

Caps acquire a third goaltender. Poirier WOULD require waivers, so he's not ticketed for Hershey, at least as of now. Extensive experience with AHL Texas. Was claimed by Devils on waivers on Sept. 27. Has not played in NHL.
NEWS | The Washington Capitals have acquired goaltender Rémi Poirier from the New Jersey Devils for Washington’s seventh-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.

Thinking of my late friend Eric Hawkins today as @TheHersheyBears host Hockey Fights Cancer.
Eric was my first broadcast partner at St. Cloud. He passed from colon cancer 15 years ago today at just 35.
Cancer sucks. Today is far more than just a hockey game for so many. 💜
