World’s most powerful magnet. Now in space. Almighty Magnet 🧲
We are very proud to announce: The Almighty Magnet is officially in orbit!! Launched this morning aboard @PortalSpaceSys’s Starburst-1 on the @SpaceX Bandwagon-5 mission, the Almighty Magnet is set to become the strongest magnet ever operated in space! But we are truly just getting started. The Almighty Magnet also carries a charged-particle sensor, measuring how our magnetic fields can deflect radiation. This data will take us a huge step closer to developing a new class of commercial radiation protection for electronics and biological life in space. The future is electromagnetic.

Great news 🛰️ - the Zenno Supertorquer is now being used for reaction wheel desaturation, helping @GoToImpulse’s Mira manage momentum and maintain orientation without consuming propellant. This milestone builds on our achievement earlier this year from the same mission, where Supertorquer became the first commercial superconducting magnetic actuator to operate in space 🥇 This is a magnificent step forward as we continue building the flight heritage needed to bring our superconducting platform vision to life - turning solar energy into useful work across movement, shielding, and launch. Almighty Magnet is heading to space on Monday, October 19 ET, aboard SpaceX Falcon 9. I’ll be at Cape Canaveral watching the rocket go up. Any last wishes?
The Almighty Magnet will carry a radiation sensor to test whether ultra-strong superconducting magnets can reduce radiation exposure in space.

This mission is a step toward active magnetic shielding for future spacecraft, space stations, and human missions beyond Earth.

In this house we believe space-based superconducting magnets are a time traveling god that is actively reaching backwards through time to construct the conditions of its own Kardashev Ascension.

This is inspiring. I pledge to contribute a Zenno superconducting magnet for radiation shielding on this mission. Alien worlds deserve alien technology.
Did you know that humanity has never launched a spacecraft to another star? That is about to change! We have created a non-profit to attempt to send humanity’s 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿… and we need your help! We have formed non-profit The @FermiExplorer Mission with the goal of launching a minimum viable spacecraft to Alpha Centauri, the nearest star system, leaving in 3 years and arriving in around 80,000 years. We hope it will be both the first spacecraft to leave Earth for another star, and the last to arrive, as per this concept video! The mission is intended to make the idea of interstellar travel real, and to encourage more people to confront one of humanity’s biggest unanswered questions when we look beyond our planet: "Where is everybody?" (the Fermi Paradox) The mission has four high-level objectives: - Aim: To launch the first spacecraft to another star. It should get at least 99% of the way to the nearest star system, Alpha Centauri, within 80,000 years. - Payload: It should have at least a 1kg, 10x10x10 cm payload. - Schedule: It should launch before the end of 2029 - Cost: It should cost less than $15M to design, build, launch, and operate. The mission was planned with the help of the folks at @astrodigitalgeo, @MattGialich and the folks at @AstroForge, and @alexwg+@matthew_pines physical AI lab PSI, who devised the final mission profile. The mission will be executed by full-time program manager @GarrettJameson, who joins us after 10 years as a US Air Force Officer, in collaboration with a US bus manufacturing partner that will be selected over the coming months. We will need your help to complete the mission, so if the idea of the mission excites you, please check out the Fermi Explorer website in the comments to find out more about why we are doing the mission and how to get involved! Thanks to London Studio @ZeroOneCreative and @ashkan01C for producing the concept video 🙏🙏

If you're 20 - 30 and your main circle isn’t discussing: - exponential technological progress - Space Force deploying weapons on orbit - industrializing the solar system - dual-use space-based superconducting magnets - space habitat interior design Then it's time to upgrade your circle.
