Govt amendments to the Railways Bill require GBR to be fully publicly owned. But no one checked the small print... Only the parent company is protected and any other 'GBR company' can be set up as a public-private partnership. Read more from our co-founder @Em_Sullivn in @RAIL railmagazine.com/comment-lan…

A massive win for our campaign! 🚌🚏 Yesterday @JohnSwinney announced all buses in Scotland would be brought under public control👏 It's vital this pledge supports the work @WeareSPT are already doing to progress bus franchising, and enables other regions to follow their lead👇

I am trying, @We_OwnIt !! As are other Peers. There are a lot of amendments ...
"This is the opportunity to establish a lasting route to public ownership—not leave it to discretionary policy." Our friends at @ABCommuters are clear: the House of Lords must amend the Railways Bill to embed public ownership of rolling stock in the law vist.ly/5nurg

Publicly owned rolling stock is better for passengers, for taxpayers and for British industry. It's time to Own Our Trains.
NEW: The Railways Bill must secure public ownership of rolling stock. Last week, the government said it would consider public ownership of new trains. If it means what it says, it must turn this into law - the Railways Bill is the best ever opportunity. abcommuters.com/2026/10/08/r…

A massive victory for Campaign for Level Boarding. The battle now is infrastructure
As I said in my speech at conference, a train without level boarding is a job you can't take. All new Great British Railways trains will be level boarding, as standard. We’re building a railway that everyone can rely on. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/r…

The ORR estimates that Network Rail could face £2.3 billion of additional pressures over a five-year period. Meanwhile, leasing trains from private ROSCOs saw £2.9 billion funnelled out of the railway in profits and dividends in the last five years alone!
Our latest assessments show that Network Rail is exceeding its efficiency targets, but rising costs and reduced financial headroom are increasing pressure on renewals. Read our latest blog: orr.gov.uk/search-news/netwo…

Replying to @nimbusdis
@nimbusdis is becoming embedded across access policy, assessment, ticketing and eligibility decisions. Why does that matter? Coz 1 private organisation can increasingly influence who gets what access, on what evidence, through systems venues then rely on. That needs scrutiny.

#Disabled people need to know this: Rail Delivery Group has awarded @nimbusdis a £1.75m contract to decide Disabled Persons Railcard eligibility, reviewing medical/benefit evidence. This goes far beyond an access card. Where is the scrutiny of assessors, appeals and safeguards?

A welcome announcement from @Heidi_Labour. The next step should be to put this approach in the Railways Bill - making public ownership of trains a lasting commitment.
🚨 NEW: Labour says it will consider public ownership of trains as part of Great British Railways instead of leasing them from private companies

Passionate, inspiring speech @Heidi_Labour The trains (rolling stock) on our railway are still privatised and they're the most profitable bit 💰💰💰 Today the government announces Great British Railways will start OWNING TRAINS for benefit of passengers + public! 🚄🎉🚄🎉🚄🎉
