We are officially 1 week out from our first ever TEAM-UP Together Student Experience Conference and we cannot wait to meet our scholars! There'll be amazing speakers, talks on physics identity, and a research poster session, plus lots of building community and fun! #TUTSEC2024
Could experiences outside the classroom strongly influence black students' decisions to study physics? Yes, they can, according to data collected from the class of 2022. 🎓 Learn more: teamuptogether.org/about/exp…#BlackInBiophysicsWeek#BIBPSWeek
We, too, are saddened to learn of the passing of Jim Simons, co-founder of @SimonsFdn and we are grateful to him and the foundation for its unequivocal support of #TEAMUPTogether. Our condolences to his family, friends, and our colleagues at the Foundation.
@AIP_HQ joins the scientific community in our expression of deep condolences for the family and friends of philanthropist extraordinaire and supporter to AIP and our work to develop a more inclusive culture in physics and astronomy, Jim Simons, @SimonsFdn
Apply for the #TEAMUPTogether Scholarship program. The program offers $10,000 awards for Black #physics and/or #astronomy students at any accredited university. Learn more and apply here ➡ ow.ly/cF9950QIn9C
#BlackinPhysicsRollCall BS & MS in Physics from @FIU and PhD in Nuclear from @TohokuUniPR. Researched the photoproduction of kaons and later worked in measuring their rarest decay modes. Recently part of @AIP_TEAMUP. Aiming to be 8th dan.
What inspires Black physics students to study physics? @AIP_Stats asked the class of 2022, and here’s what they had to say:
🚀 Informal exposure to science: 56%
🎥 Movies or TV: 49%
🔭 Personal hobby: 42%

Great news: #TEAMUPTogether is accepting scholarship applications for the 2024-25 school year! Black and/or African American undergraduates are encouraged to apply by March 8. Learn more: teamuptogether.org/about/sch…
Similar to the #TEAMUP Report, this new study by the @EdTrust and Just Equations on high achieving Black & Latino students in advanced math finds that teachers who care and set high standards make a positive difference. bit.ly/3GCGjch
It also finds that high achieving Black and Latino students still lack access to advanced math courses, which we know likely impacts their participation in other STEM fields like physics and astronomy.

Ayanna says it best: #TEAMUPTogether provides opportunities for students who haven't had them historically. This #GivingTuesday, consider supporting AIP Foundation to provide more opportunities and support systems for future physical scientists like Ayanna.
Scholar Ayanna Mann shares hands-on research experiences made possible by #TEAMUPTogether.
On #GivingTuesday, support AIP Foundation's Diversity Action Fund, which fuels efforts to create gateways of opportunity for underrepresented groups in physics: foundation.aip.org/give/team…

We are excited to partner with our #TEAMUPTogether Lead Partner @APSphysics National Mentoring Community to host the first of a few virtual & in person mentor trainings for Black students and others underrepresented in physics & astronomy today at 1pm ET. The next is @NSBPInc!
This community of mentors is working also with @AIP_TEAMUP to change the face of physics in the United States. Mentoring is a key tool in changing the lived experience of students and @APSphysics does great work to do just that. We at @AIP_HQ are proud to be their partner
