Community Radiation Oncologist 📍FL 🌴▪️Improving cancer care thru policy reform ▪️@ASTRO_org Government/Payer Relations ▪️Treating all patients, any insurance
Every #RadOnc in the United States is officially caught between a #ROCR and a hard place.
Read our @NeimanHPI supported study @IJROBP to learn why bundled #Medicare models like #ROCR (Radiation Oncology Case Rate) are important to consider and potential areas for improvement.

And with EHR, I suddenly had to do everything myself. I used to tell nurses to call in or fax a prescription to the pharmacy for me. I was told I had to enter the rx myself with all the associated drop down menus and clicks.
I used to tell my front desk to order labs, CT's, MRI's... for me. Now I have to order them myself and "remember" if the patient is on metformin or has a cardiac device.
But the worst thing for #radonc was the requirement to enter an "intent to treat order." Regurgitating what is already in my consult note and radiation prescription. It's required for billing and does absolutely nothing for patient care
Credentialing delays mean canceled visits and slower care.
Dr. Join Luh (@j_luh) explains how AB 2457 can reduce backlogs and improve patient access.

Radiation lymphoma studies that are published in rad onc journals are better cited, despite lower impact factor. Lymphoma studies reporting on radiation negative clinical outcomes are more likely to be published in non-rad onc and higher impact factor journals, and by non-rad onc authors: tinyurl.com/rjsaifi
Ensuring that patients get the care they need is an important aspect of every radiologists' job. This starts with clear communication that reassures the patient that your recommendations are the right next steps for them. Join @AlyssaCubbison as she explores how expertise plays a huge role in this step in patient care in our first #ACRYPS column, YPS: Early to Rise. #ACRBulletin 🔗 bit.ly/42BIoAK@RadiologyACR@OrmsbyMD@koolkpMD@DSmethermanMD

In conjunction with the Patel et al retrospective study on the cost of telehealth in #radonc, ACRO member Dr. @j_luh has authored the editorial "Telehealth in #RadiationOncology: Time to Refine, Not Just Expand" now published on #CURiE. Read it here: cureus.com/articles/407131-t…
When is telehealth for radiation oncology on treatment visits appropriate? It likely depends on the site of service/disease type.
At my freestanding center, I often am also the patients PCP. Without me there is no in-person physician support, patients go straight to hospital.
#CURiEAlert: "Excess Cost of Telehealth Use in #RadOnc: A Medicare-Based Cohort Study" is published! This study analyzes Medicare beneficiaries who received external beam radiation therapy in outpatient hospital-based settings between 2020-2022: cureus.com/articles/389689-e…
Mark your calendars for Sept. 7th, 2025, as the radiology community will come together to celebrate the first ever World Radiotherapy Day. This day hopes to raise awareness around the world to reduce disparities preventing patients from getting access to radiotherapy.
See the @ACRBulletin about @RadiologyACR's involvement as well as why everyone in the House of Radiology should participate!
