Amber Chubbuck was standing in her kitchen when she heard the sound of skateboards on her driveway. She did what most people do now. She opened the Ring app. What she saw wasn’t trespassers or trouble. It was a handful of kids standing outside, counting together, waving their hands, and trying to cast spells on the lights. Little wizards practicing their magic. Most people would have opened the door and told them to leave. Some would have called the police. Amber stayed inside and started controlling the lights herself. Every time the kids counted and pointed, the lights answered. When it worked, they completely lost it. Pure disbelief. Pure joy. The kind of moment that doesn’t happen much anymore. She didn’t stop them. She didn’t ruin it. She just quietly helped keep the magic alive for one more afternoon.
