From Jan-June, .AI averaged 60K registrations a month. From July-Sept, .AI averaged only 33K.
Now, .SI has entered the ring with Trump and Musk promoting SI. The last quarter of 2026 will prove definitive for both.
Meanwhile, COM is sitting in the audience eating popcorn.
25 years ago, we lost our cousin Paul Rizza on the 94th floor of WTC 2, and our friends at the Windows on the World restaurant on the 107th floor of WTC 1. While we were employed at Windows, a maintenance worker gave Michael a floor plaque he was replacing. Little did we know how significant it would become. Today, it is on display, in memory of Paul, in the Visitors Center of the Flight 93 Memorial in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

GODADDY NEW APPRAISAL SYSTEM ANALYSIS
It's only been a week since GoDaddy launched their new appraisal system, but we've noticed two major changes with our 200+ names.
1) Names listed for less than 20K have surged with inquiries. This is because a name listed at $8,888 that now has an appraisal of 18K looks like a bargain.
2) Names listed for six-figures+ have much fewer inquiries. This is because they no longer see a Wednesday.com appraised at 23K.
The obvious conclusion is YES, the Public, not Domainers, have been checking GoDaddy appraisals all along.

GODADDY LAUNCHES NEW APPRAISAL SYSTEM
GoDaddy, the #1 domain company in the world, is now appraising domain names for more than $25,000.
In this screenshot, they appraise our Cost.com for over a million dollars. Updates to follow.
I'll be at NamesCon Global in Miami this November, where the domain industry truly connects face-to-face and moves things forward.
Register today and lock in early bird rates before they increase on August 21! i.snoball.it/p/JOLU3Ebv/t/2#NamesCon
After GoDaddy assured us for almost a YEAR that their ridiculous appraisal system was being replaced, it appears to be back up again. As soon as our DomainNames contract is up, we'll be moving those names elsewhere.
@GoDaddy
When I started DomainSponsor 25 years ago out of college, we depended on Overture (then GoTo com) and a little startup called Google. Back then the business was pretty simple. Great domains generated traffic, advertisers paid for clicks, and nobody imagined domains themselves would eventually become programmable, tradable digital assets.
Today, seeing Smoothie .com cross $1M in trading volume is one of those moments that reminds me how far this industry has come. A domain that once generated passive income from traffic can now generate passive income from trading activity and market participation. It’s the same underlying scarce, valuable asset now on entirely new financial rails.
Exciting times ahead for millions of domainers around the world. Proud of what the team has built at @DomaProtocol, but it still feels like we’re only scratching the surface.
The internet has always rewarded ownership and now we’re just giving owners like @Castello_Bros more ways to participate in the value they’ve been creating all along.

Verisign reported that COM registrations reached 166.6 million at the end of Q2 2026, surpassing the previous record of 163.6 million set in Q1 2026.

We have names on GoDaddy's DomainNames.com. Lots of inquiries. Lots of Stalls. Curious, Michael did an inquiry for Wednesday.com. He was sent this survey. This would be like walking into a Lambo dealership and the guy says, "Hi, have you bought a car before?"
