Google is restricting what free Gemini users get starting October 9
after the change:
• free tier: Flash-Lite model only
• AI Plus ($4.99/mo): Flash and Flash-Lite, no Pro
• AI Pro ($19.99/mo): full Gemini Pro model + Deep Think
• Deep Research now needs a paid plan
usage limits are also shifting to a compute based system that refreshes every 5 hours up to a weekly cap
if you're on free Gemini rn, your model access is about to get a lot smaller

Starting October 9, free users will only have access to Flash-Lite.
Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.1 Pro are being removed from the free tier.
And this comes right after Google introduced Gemini 4 Argon.

I see a lot of folks who are completely anti-AI criticizing creators for using AI in their thumbnails, videos, and other content.
Meanwhile, they actively use platforms like Meta, X, YouTube, and VidIQ, all of which rely on AI in one way or another to power their products.

If you're genuinely against AI altogether, then you shouldn't be selectively against the parts you don't like while benefiting from the technology everywhere else.
At that point, you'd have to go entirely offline, because you simply can't participate in today's online ecosystem
