The MLB owners have done a frustratingly effective job at framing a salary cap as the only viable solution to “competitive balance” As a reminder, the players should not have to limit their earnings for a problem that a group of 30 billionaires created
Speaking to media at the World Series about an expected MLB lockout, MLBPA executive director Bruce Meyer said “none of this has to be happening.” Meyer said MLB’s push for a salary cap is about increasing franchise values and capping costs, not competitive balance.

The sickening stories keeping coming in…😢😢😢 SHAME ON YOU, @StubHub. Imagine being a kid, a HUGE @Brewers fan, and finding out you’re going to see your team play in the WORLD SERIES! ⚾️💙💛 The excitement. The anticipation. The memories you’re already imagining making. Now imagine having that excitement ripped away because a company sold your 3 tickets that you bought, that they apparently can’t deliver. That’s exactly what we’re dealing with right now. We purchased THREE tickets to the Milwaukee Brewers World Series for Game 1 last Tuesday(13th) through StubHub. We selected our section, our row, paid for our tickets, and received our order confirmation. Everything was supposed to be set. Then suddenly, StubHub tells us they’re “searching for replacement options” because they can’t provide the tickets we purchased. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! How does a company accept someone’s hard earned money, confirm a purchase, and then turn around and say they can’t fulfill it?! And their solution? We can request a refund while they continue looking for tickets. THIS ISN’T ABOUT THE MONEY. It’s about the experience. It’s about the memories. It’s about the excitement of a kid, his dad, and grandpa, who thought they were going to watch their favorite baseball team play on the biggest stage in baseball. Look at the first picture. That’s the disappointment you’re creating, StubHub. A refund doesn’t replace that moment. And here’s what really bothers me… StubHub advertises a “FanProtect Guarantee” and tells customers their orders are “100% guaranteed.” Guaranteed WHAT, exactly?! Because from where we’re sitting, that guarantee doesn’t feel worth much when you can’t deliver the tickets you sold us. We did everything right. We purchased through a major ticket marketplace. We trusted the confirmation. We trusted the guarantee. Now it’s time for StubHub to make it right. We aren’t asking for anything extra. We want the three tickets we paid for, or comparable or better seats together, at no additional cost. Stubhub…DO BETTER. Please SHARE this. Not just for us, but for every fan who has trusted a ticket company with an experience that means so much more than the price of admission. ℹ️Brandon Barker

Apologies for sharing this post-waivers this week, but I'll make this simple. If you aren't reading @AndrewErickson_ Weekly Beyond the Waiver article for @FantasyPros, then you are failing at #FantasyFootball. It's easily the deepest dive & most thorough info going.

In the last few months: The Orioles owner said he bought the team because all of his friends who had sports teams made more than he ever could in private equity The Padres sold for $3.9B, 63% more than the previous record The Angels then sold for $4.0B, beating the Padres record So why then are billionaires lighting money on fire by bailing out other billionaires from the apparent financial ruin of owning a baseball team? It's because they're all making billions in appreciation and teams like the Yankees can sell just 16% for $2.6 BILLION (MLB of course waived the 15% cap lol) with an additional $1B in tax-exempt revenue bonds to refinance debt in their other business ventures Seriously, who would pass up on an infinite money glitch like that? I'm begging you all to realize owners just want a cap to make accounting easier. They're lying about competitive balance to create a narrative that is only in place to win them cost certainty

Legitimately I’m at the point with the Commanders where if they traded Jayden Daniels this offseason, I’d just forget about them and passively root for JD5 from there on. I feel nothing for this group of losers

Dinelson Lamet was the 5th-best starting pitcher in the COVID season by fWAR with 2.5, in 69 (nice) IP. He'd have been 2nd (not a typo) among 2026 San Diego Padres starters w/that total. So we're clear, he pitched one (1) less frame than Mason Miller that year. #ForTheFaithful

Imagine if we did not tracking pitching accomplishments of Koufax and Pedro and only relied on their batting stats. We'd think they were two of the worst baseball players of all time Ignoring the fielding accomplishments of shortstops isn't as bad as that, but it's pretty bad
WAR is a fake stat examples: Ryan Howard: 382 Home Runs, 1,194 RBIs, .258 AVG, 1,475 Hits, and an NL MVP Award Dansby Swanson (Through 2024): 166 Home Runs, 577 RBIs, .253 AVG, 1,120 Hits. Dansby Swanson has a higher career WAR 31.2 WAR than Ryan Howard 14.5 career WAR
