I am here to Make Things & Help People. Software is meant to make life better, not worse. Let's make that happen.

We should treat all our interfaces as recommender systems.
Say you are prefetching issues for a view. You could just grab the 10 most recent issues. If they are all machine generated maybe they aren't the most relevant.
What if you used a combination of recency, new comments, and page time? This might seem strange at first because they are just loading the page for the first time.
There is always a motive to loading a page. We need to do product research to understand why users are coming to that page and then tailor it to them.
Example of what a recommender system might consider when determining what to show me when I load an issues page:
- If I've never visited the page before - show me issues that tend to have a lot of view time from first time viewers. Maybe there's a common issue that others have problems with.
- The person viewing a page is a known contributor? They might like to see a combination of updates to issues they are working on with new issues.
I yearn for systems that make me do less work to show me what I want to see.

Just japes and jests, code and quests, affectations and explications, but I'm rapidly becoming fond of it.
imagine you wake up every day in room-sized bed. you are gently lifted from the covers and dressed in warmest sweaters each morning. your favourite foods are brought to you. you have no bills, no job, no responsibilities. but you are a chihuahua, so you are blind with rage.
I ordered a capuccino at 1pm in Venice and the grandma running the cafe literally said "it is not breakfast anymore, signora" and gave me an aperol spritz and you know what?
she was right
Today we ponder the big questions:
1. Are we alone in the universe?
2. Is it better to cause suffering with the certainty of greater good, or avoid suffering with the possibility of harm?
And
3. Where is my shifter?
It is increasingly apparent that #Australian#brickandmortar brands do not have the design fortitude to ensure #ecommerce experiences offer premium flows. Instead, they grasp and heave at every pattern and widget which they ken. Result: a decidedly embarrassing experience.
None of these sites were particularly easy to use on my Pixel 8 Pro. Neither were they zippy; instead having quite a pronounced sluggishness when searching and navigating.
They felt like searching a hawkers market, rather than buying a pair of shoes from a major retailer.
The most common mistake I see software engineers make is thinking they don't need to learn about the domain they're operating in. Nowhere is that hubris more publicly on display than generative AI
"Frameworks are a testbed for ideas that may or may not work out. We all need to be OK with that. Even framework authors. Especially framework authors. More importantly, we all need to stop being salty when our way isn’t what makes it into the browser."

It would be awesome if the reference architectures and samples on the @awscloud blog and github repo included cost and sustainability impact estimates so folks could have more data to see if something is feasible for them or not.

we get so many questions about cognito which makes me think a lot of people use it
but i think it's just that 100% of people who try to use it run into issues
