Is teaching pupils to adopt a political narrative based on false historical claims part of the curriculum in Belgium?
This is what a “geography lesson” looks like at a secondary school in Antwerp. Entire classrooms filled with Palestinian flags.
“On May 15 every year we go on the streets in Antwerp and everywhere in the world to commemorate the Nakba…”
“…We still live with the dream that one day we will return to Palestine.”
I will raise this directly with the Flemish Education Minister
@Zu_Demir and request a formal investigation by the education inspectorate.
I will also write to the school’s governing board and Katholiek Onderwijs Vlaanderen, seeking the full teaching materials, an explanation of who approved this session, and assurances that this will not happen again.
Parents deserve to know when a geography classroom becomes a platform for political campaigning.
An impressive lesson in geography: the line between education and activism has disappeared.
I promise to make the responses I receive public.
