To my surprise I've just found out since September every secondary school in England has had to teach the harms of strangulation anyway. That's the education critics said young people were missing and 2 months later they've criminalised adults owning porn of it anyway!!

🇬🇧 UK porn ban starts tomorrow (6 Nov 2026)
From Friday, possessing or publishing certain types of pornography becomes a criminal offence in England and Wales under the Crime and Policing Act 2026.
Banned content includes:
• Strangulation or suffocation
• Penetrative sex between people who appear related (or are pretending to be related, including some step/foster scenarios)
• Adults role-playing as children under 16
Penalties:
• Up to 2 years for possession of strangulation or “relative” content
• Up to 3 years for the under-16 role-play material
• Up to 5 years for publishing any of it

It’s another conversation whether a risky activity should be banned between consenting parties.
I think drinking contests are very high risk; I don’t think people should be legally barred from participating in them.

I think this is a fair conversation. Choking during sex does have risks, and I think people would be well advised to at least be careful about it.
I wouldn’t necessarily flinch if someone said you should avoid it.
That’s different than suggesting that sexual choking has a “high risk of death” or that it should be considered attempted killing.
It’s definitely different than suggesting any person who so much as suggests otherwise must be a violent pervert.
