This is a bad take. It has nothing to do with being a dual national.
Malik Tillman is a great player. He’s also incredibly uncomfortable in front of the cameras, which you cannot be as the “face of the NT.”
And in case you haven’t noticed, that role belongs to Pochettino.
For me, Malik Tillman should be the face of the U.S. National Team. No debate. But wait, I forgot… he wasn’t born in America.
Enough with the politics. Let’s talk about football!
I represented this country for seven years. I’ve seen things, heard things, and experienced things firsthand. So when I speak about what needs to change in American soccer, I’m speaking from experience, not from the outside looking in.
And I will continue to speak about what I believe needs to change for the betterment of the game in this country.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:
In Europe, you have to BECOME a star. In America, they MAKE you a star.
There’s a big difference.
It’s time we put football first. Let the performances on the pitch do the talking.
