Great to have @Wing_VC on our team.
Friday roundup: here's what happened across @Wing_VC this week. 🏭 @FoundryRobotics announced its Series A. The team is building critical hardware here in the U.S. to help secure America's ability to defend, compete and innovate. 🤝 @ClassiqTech is being acquired by @intel. Classiq builds software that makes quantum computers easier to program. We've backed Nir, Yehuda, Amir and the team since their Series A and couldn't be prouder. 👋 Tyson Mao joined Wing as Head of AI. We first met Tyson in 2023 when he was co-founder and CEO of Tobiko Data, the company behind SQLMesh, which was later acquired by Fivetran. 🔐 Northstar Security came out of stealth with its seed round, led by Wing. Northstar connects a company's security and IT data into one live map so AI agents can find risks and help fix them. 🎤 We hosted our AGM and heard from founders including @adarshkulkarni of @FoundryRobotics, Josh Bruno of Rula, and Scott Stephenson of @DeepgramAI, which hosted its inaugural Speak conference this week.

This is the exact kind of friction that holds American hardware innovation back @H2colby. It's not enough to design great products if the manufacturing ecosystem can't keep pace. This is exactly the kind of problem that motivated us to build Foundry. Hardware companies should be focused on building and scaling their products, not chasing suppliers for answers.
I want to buy american so badly it hurts. But some of y'all make this shit as hard as fk.

The future of American manufacturing is bright, and we're building it. Proud to be recognized on @a16z's American Dynamism 50 alongside companies strengthening America's industrial and defense capabilities. Time to build.
The 2026 American Dynamism 50 is here: our annual list of 50 companies, from within the a16z portfolio and beyond, building for America's future. This year's theme is Production is Deterrence. "America's ability to prevent conflict depends on what it can build, how fast it can deliver, and how long it can keep going." A new generation of defense companies is moving from prototypes to full-scale production, and the industrial base has to keep pace. This year's list is organized around three pillars: 1. Systems: the drones, ships, missiles, aircraft, and spacecraft that deter conflict. 2. Factories: the plants, tools, and software that build them. 3. Inputs: the materials and power they're made of and run on. Get all three right, and the impact reaches well beyond defense, to skilled jobs, revitalized communities, and the supply chains behind energy, housing, and everyday goods. Meet all 50: a16z.news/p/ad-50-2026-produ…

Foundry has acquired @AveaRobotics. @aryind_ and @vikramvadrevu are deeply technical and customer-obsessed and working together (as an early customer) was easy. Data collection and inference at scale power our factories and that makes Avea a natural fit. Welcome aboard!

Our CEO @adarshkulkarni joined the "AI in the Physical World" panel at @AnthropicAI Founders House with @kalinowski007, @kevinmpeterson1 & Adrien Gaidon. His take: deployment is the whole game. Physical AI is improving fast, but it still doesn't understand manufacturing.

Factories are still held together by human coordination and traditional, hard-coded assembly workflows. That’s the bottleneck. @adarshkulkarni and @mavolpi discuss the future of autonomous manufacturing, robotics foundation models, and why scaling assembly is one of the hardest problems in the real world. piped.video/watch?v=TiEDulsF…

Foundry Robotics opening night ⚙️ 21 days before we were taking a sledgehammer to the wall and opening up the adjacent space. Now it’s a factory floor full of investors, partners, customers, researchers, operators, and future teammates. A lot more to come.

Last weekend, the Foundry team headed to Napa for our first offsite. Most days, we’re focused on rebuilding American manufacturing and building hard technology — but great companies are also built through trust, friendship, and shared experiences outside of work. 🍷⚙️
