Standing up to AI billionaire Trump donors trying to buy our elections and prevent common sense regulation

Gavin Newsom has an opportunity to show whose side he’s on. When he vetoed SB 1047 he capitulated to Big AI. Before his term is up he can lead CA to establish guardrails for all Americans’ safety and our economy.
Big scoop from @ChaseDiFelice and @JeremyBWhite: Newsom says he wants to take further action on AI safety before leaving office, including raising the possibility of a special session subscriber.politicopro.com/a…

AI executives have spent big on Trump. Now their AI is hacking websites, including a government health database. If Trump’s DOJ looks the other way, that’s corruption, plain and simple. I’m leading 17 members of Congress and demanding an investigation. fortune.com/2026/10/16/opena…

One thing Democrats and Republicans should be able to agree on is that the American people should not be bailing out AI companies. Working people should be sharing in the benefits created by AI, not picking up the tab if AI companies take a financial hit.
The rare DeSantis endorsement of @USProgressives legislation. He’s right to be worried. The Democratic Party is slowly consolidating around a vision of AI populism, while the political right has been completely co-opted by the AI industry and their financiers.

The Anti-A.I. Money Strikes Back puck.news/ai/2026/10/pro-ai-… To build on this: @GuardrailsNow didn’t come close to matching them $ for $- and we didn’t need to. We brought labor, progressive orgs and the 80% of people in every state who think AI CEOs shouldn’t meddle in elections

My colleagues and I are demanding that OpenAI not fire whistleblowers and keep its most powerful models paused until there’s real oversight. AI CEOs should also be dragged in front of Congress and asked about the risks they’re putting on us.

Anyone concerned that a reckless race to AGI is bad for AI safety and ethics should be deeply concerned about the pending frontier lab IPOs. If they go forward, the current race will look quaint by comparison. A public company's stock is worth zero today if the company will not be worth more in the future. The relentless grind of quarterly earnings will make it impossible to pause growth and focus on safety. The race to AGI is gas on a fire. The race to AGI plus public quarterly growth targets is napalm on gas on the fire.

In just over a year, Leading the Future has become one of the most toxic groups in politics. When you see AI lobbyists and PR hatchet men trying to spin the results of Tuesday's election, remember that they are covering up for their complete and total failure this cycle.
Facing bipartisan backlash and a decaying reputation, AI super PACs are changing tactics. We tracked their election spending so far. theintercept.com/2026/10/29/…

Corruption is top of mind for voters & people are disgusted with AI oligarchs who've given millions to campaigns & gotten access, government jobs, and policies that let them get richer at our expense. Guardrails new ad in Ohio lays out how this legalized corruption works.

The DCCC, famously indifferent to winning, remains laser-focused on its real goal: raising the salience of AI issues.

Dems know it's not simply about connecting Rs to data centers but telling the larger story about Big Tech corruption, an out-of-control AI that's seemingly everywhere, about the unpopular CEOs behind it all. ➡️ Big Tech AI builds the data centers ➡️ Big Tech gives Rs a massive campaign check ➡️ Rs give Big Tech a tax break Successful campaigns will make that connection. 🧵

Jimmy Gomez was one of the first Dems endorsed by AI super PAC Leading the Future. He's got a progressive challenger & polling shows he can be beat. Guardrails is up with a new ad and is now spending $1 million against him, here's why we think this race is so important

AI industry support is an absolute liability for Democrats. Our poll shows Gomez losing by 20+ pts when voters learn he's backed by LTF. And polling in OH, IA, and MI show 75% of general election voters are less likely to support a candidate backed by a corporate AI super PAC

We're ready to hold politicians accountable for taking support from groups like Leading the Future, & that means holding Democrats accountable too. This is an issue we can win on in 2026 & beyond, but only if Americans really believe we're willing to stand up to the AI oligarchs

The risks of AI are more urgent than ever. But Trump remains opposed to commonsense guardrails. Why? Guardrails Action's new ad shows how Big AI gives millions to Trump's projects, gets unprecedented access, and the admin blocks regulations the vast majority of Americans want.

A more honest thing for Guardrails to say here is to acknowledge that AI safety is not a top 15 voter issue, but that its mission is try to make it one - and then spend $ to try to increase its salience. Instead they do the normal Groups polling gymnastics thing.

A pro-data center super PAC is swooping in at the last minute in an attempt to save the Republican South Carolina Senator who's at risk of losing her seat because of her support of data centers.
