Israel says itโs a democracy where Palestinians vote. Of the 7 million Palestinians under Israeli rule, about 1.2 million can vote for the government that rules them. The rest sit on a ladder of rights. East Jerusalem can vote for mayor, not the Knesset. The West Bank last voted for a parliament in 2006. Gaza and the refugees canโt vote at all. Even the citizens at the top get no real power. When they turned out in record numbers this October, they were accused of stealing the election. This is how Israel divides the Palestinians and calls it democracy. It is a democracy only for Jews.
