This isn't about shifting market share. It's about creating a whole new category. Right now, blockchain is just a pond, while traditional finance is the ocean. The real opportunity is building the channel that lets the ocean flow in. Read @mcagney full manifesto here: nitter.siddz.com/mcagney/status/2074973…

Neither option works for large-scale capital. That's why we're building a third choice: the bridge. You get custody and can choose your own venue, all through a familiar interface with the support traditional finance expects. Enjoy qualified custody without giving up control, curated and vetted venues, a KYC passport, real banking connections, and a team you can contact.

So why hasn't more money moved into DeFi? DeFi lending currently holds about $25-$30 billion across its two main protocols. That's less than 0.2% of what US commercial banks handle, and even less than the daily change in the US repo market alone. For context, Figure is rapidly approaching $2B in new assets on-chain per month. Assuming we use DeFi to finance whole loans and resulting securities, we’d eat through two of the largest DeFi protocol stablecoin supplies in a year. DeFi isn’t too big to fail; it’s too small to matter, at least today. The model isn't the bottleneck. The capital on the sidelines is.

When an asset is digitally native and liquid, DeFi protocols can finance it at lower rates than traditional wholesale capital markets, right now, not just in theory. Our friends at @Figure have lent against BTC since 2020 and never lost a dollar. The rates aren't mispriced. They reflect real liquidity and principal risk.

DeFi offers a better way to finance real-world assets, but most institutional capital still can't access it. The Wallet Co aims to solve this problem by creating a bridge that brings traditional finance capital on-chain, removing the usual barriers. Here's why we believe this approach works.
