Some personal news: I’ve joined @Kfundvc as an Investor, and I’m moving to Barcelona. 🌅 Having spent the last years backing founders across Iberia, it has been striking to watch the Spanish ecosystem densify. More people leaving big operators to build. More people choosing the startup path over the safe one. Second-time founders going again. Alumni networks taking shape, with people from one company spinning out into the next. Communities like @exp8fellowship sending the best young builders abroad. And Spanish founders positioning themselves globally from day one. Kfund has been part of Barcelona’s story almost from the beginning. I’ll now lead our presence in the city: living here, spending time with the portfolio, and meeting the founders building the most crazy companies. Huge thanks to @JCampo7_ and @jaimenovoa for opening this door, and to the whole K 🟦 team for the trust. Bon dia, Barcelona. More info here: kfund.vc/

¡Hemos abierto Tempo!

Introducing PhoneFlow, the Open Source Voice Agent Platform 🚀 Lately Voice AI has been a very hot space: In Spain alone there have been several major funding rounds recently, including HappyRobot ($44M), Prosper AI ($30M), Orbio ($21M), and Murphy AI ($15M). If we take a broader look globally, there is an even more diverse set of players: Sierra (950M), Elevenlabs (500M), Parloa (350M), Decagon (250M), PolyAI (86M) Bland (50M), Vapi (50M), Synthflow (20M), Retell, etc Although they have very different value propositions and GTM strategies (ranging from self-serve product led growth to FDE-driven enterprise sales motion or building for any use case to focusing on a single vertical) the core product behind most of them is actually quite similar: a platform to create voice agents by connecting nodes on a canvas with version control and deploy them to handle inbound and outbound phone calls. Despite how crowded the space has become, I realized there wasn't an established open source alternative. So I decided to build one. So far I had a lot of fun working on it. I got to solve some nerd sniping problems like: - Transforming a mutable graph formed by different kinds of nodes connected through edges into a runtime state machine that dynamically updates the agent prompts depending on the current node and creates tools on the fly to transition through the outgoing edges when transition conditions are met - A version control system with immutable snapshots of the agents to be able to iterate with confidence with full traceability of the changes - A consumption based credit system that charges per call minute depending on the STT, LLM, TTS providers and models selected for each deployed agent version - A basic templating engine to support dynamic variables in prompts - Running and connecting the agents to handle real inbound and outbound phone calls There are still a lot of features missing that I will continue to implement during my free time but I think this initial version is complete enough to put it out there. Check out the GitHub repository, give it a star if you like it and join the waitlist to get notified when I release the platform generally available (link in comments).

We just raised $85M, Europe's largest ever robotics Series A, led by @CRV, with backing from @Samsung and @LVMH. But this story did not start today. Carla and Jia have been obsessed with robots since they were kids. They met as engineers at UPC, started the university's robotics club, and competed and won at an international level. Years later, that obsession became THEKER: a company built from Barcelona to be the largest in the world, and to crack the technical problems other people call impossible. Today we are well on our way to the goal we set on day one: solve 100% of physical work. Our robots are live in production, improving every day, and the pace is only increasing. This round is not the destination. It is one more step in the right direction. Thank you to everyone who got us here. To our team, who hold a standard most people would call unreasonable. To our customers, who push us to become better. And to our investors, old and new, who saw it before the rest of the world did. If this mission excites you, we are hiring across the board. Come build it with us. We will win.

@THEKER_ai just raised $85M 🇪🇺🚀 Largest robotics Series A in European history, round led by CRV + Samsung and LVMH joining. Thank you Carla and Jiaqiang for letting us be part of the journey since pre-seed 🙏 They met at UPC, started the university's robotics club, and won competitions at international level before they ever incorporated a company, and that obsession became the company. 18 months later, their robots deploy in days instead of months, keep learning while they operate, and are already live in production across Europe. Congrats to the team, and can't wait to see what's next 🚀 @hernanzjm @pepe_vilanova @Jordi10Noguera @samuelgil @lourdesadt @JME_Ventures

On-prem is the new cloud @chamath called this 2 months ago. Now it's everywhere: On-prem - ideal VPC - okay SaaS / public cloud - 👎 The cost of setting up infra is decreasing fast. Agents can configure anything in a matter of hours: Firmware, LAN, VMs, k8s, Terraform - you name it. Many companies are running open-source LLMs in-house for simple workflows. And pseudonymize data for cloud models. CFOs love it! They hate everything that is per-seat or per-token. Way more focus on what's defensible: data policies ontology know-hows decision chains New motto: Data sovereignty Zero vendor lock-in Headless OSS stack On-prem / hybrid infra Centralized governance Context graph ownership Bearish on rent Bullish on own

Indexed Lenny's content for agents > ask any questions without recall issues (structure + codegen) > converted all the markdown files to a db > connect curated data as context for agents via MCP, API, CLI > was set up in 10 min and can be applied to other knowledge bases!
Can't wait to see what y'all build

We're back with another edition of Beyond The Prompt, this time in Barcelona on May 19th at @itnig. We'll hear from @heycesr (@trylatitude) & Kai Brandt (@GenesyAI) Tickets are free, grab yours here 👉🏼 lu.ma/g101d8jr
We're starting Beyond the Prompt, a new meetup series bringing together founders, builders, and AI enthusiasts to explore the most exciting AI-driven startups and projects emerging in Spain. In the meetups we'll do a combination of AI-first companies—those with AI at their core— as well as startups leveraging AI for efficiency and growth. If you’re building in AI, this is where you need to be. 🚀 The first meetup will take place in Madrid at @PatioCampus on Tuesday April 8th. The speakers will be: - @esmaldan, founder and CEO of Omnia - @rmorehig, frontend engineer at @tinybird 🔹 What to Expect: - Two deep-dive presentations (20-25 min each) + interactive Q&A. - A product & tech-first focus—no pitches, just real insights from founders on how they built and scaled their AI-driven products. - Plenty of networking time afterward—grab a drink, enjoy some pizza, and connect with fellow builders and investors. You can get your (free) ticket here 👉🏼 lu.ma/t4yafn86 We'll do one meetup per month, alternating between Madrid and Barcelona, and perhaps expanding to other Spanish cities too.
