healthed.com.au/clinical_art… No wins for “women’s health” here. Political pork barrelling at the expense of quality & comprehensive healthcare.

I keep hearing the line of “doctors make mistakes- so it’s ok for other staff to be doing their jobs too” A few things. 1. Aviation is touted as an exemplar of safety. When a pilot makes a mistake- the industry works to give them added training, support, breaks as needed - along with learnings to prevent any further such 2. What it doesn’t do is ask air traffic controllers to fly the plane. As they realise the safety issues will become more, not less. Or for that matter- the baggage handlers 3. Playing footsie with safety issues is what has led to the NHS being so poor on safety outcomes. Lower skilled people doing work outside their competence with light touch regulation is not the only reason- but is contributory. If you don’t understand that due to your hubris? I can’t help you. I don’t work as a GP, Physiotherapist, Pharmacist or a Nurse for a reason It’s called awareness of one’s limits and risk of being unsafe to others health. It’s simple when you think of it. Play as much mental gymnastic with the above as you want But people are waking up to it all around. Stop chicanery, clownery and charlatanism. @NHSEngland @NHSE_WTE @DHSCgovuk

I facilitate on a whole bundle of courses across Australia - but it saddens me when folk say either or both of 1/ we don’t have DuCanto, only the Yankauer and/or 2/ we will roll patient on the count of three (rather than ready-set/brace-action) IYKYK
It is 2026 and I still see these routinely stocked in ERs and ambulances. Here's to a worldwide ban on the "tonsil tip/yankauer" from every emergency department and ambulance. It has absolutely NO place in urgent airway management. Arguments?

1/7 Salió PUMA: la guía más completa que he visto sobre los fundamentos que debe tener un servicio antes de manejar una vía aérea. Not too late to make a submission about takeover of Adelaide parklands by MotoGP Gonna cost a few hundred million Plus concerns lost productivity will outweigh economic benefit to SA Environmental & heritage impacts ignored parklands-motogp-submission.…

A nurse consultant HASN’T been struck off after working hundreds of shifts performing ERCPs , despite not being medically qualified. He told patients that he was a medical consultant . 7 patients died, 58 were harmed . Are you equally as concerned about this ? #protectnurse

Is the “going home” when the list goes down or is cancelled optional? If it’s not then I would not touch this with a bargepole. It has a whiff of the “zero hours contract” about it and sounds like it work an entirely to management’s advantage rather than the workers’.

Show us more of the device please @AirwayMxAcademy How do blades attach? Are batteries proprietary? Rechargeable? Is there one touch record function for audit? How is the screen quality and does it rotate away from operator? Etc etc Thanks in advance
I used the new Ambu Suresight VL for paediatric nasal intubation and dental procedures. Hyperangulated blade size 3.0 worked really well. No Magill forcepsneeded, clear vision, smooth intubation. Although this blade size 3.0 is relatively oversized for patients 25-30 kg, it keeps the tongue nicely away. Nasal tube size 4.5 RAE in both patients. #VL

This So much this
Great data-driven reminder from @doctimcook et al: with VL, "I can see" and "I can intubate" are two different skills. 1 in 10 easy Cormack-Lehane views still needed >1 attempt — and it wasn't blade geometry (D-blade wasn't worse), it was operator experience. The bottleneck has shifted from glottic view to tube delivery mechanics ("acceso traqueal" in Spanish). Time our training curricula caught up. #AirwayEd #FOAMed #DynamicIntroductor @italo05airway @Dcs_AwUS @airwayneuro @JamesPM88 @jducanto @AirwayC76055 @CursoEMIVA @ProtectedAirway @airwayGladiator @intubatiem

The seriousness of this really should not be underestimated or neglected Trusts are knowingly breaking the law & doing nothing to address it Nor are the Colleges, government or regulators doing anything to hold them to account Patients should be up in arms about this too!
Physician Assistants (PAs) are NOT legally authorized to independently order these under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R). (H/T @medicalmodelbri for this finding) The absolute clownery workforce has descended into-with scant regards for the public- while the Royal Colleges sit back and the regulator pontificates? Is absolutely amazing. And then we wonder? Why are there safety issues, lesser productivity, wastage in the NHS Utterly shameful @RCRadiologists @RCPhysicians @NHSE_WTE @gmcuk @NHSEngland @DHSCgovuk

So sad to hear that @agwalker01 had passed away A man who lead from the front, was knowledgeable & approachable Indebted for his support of public access defibrillators and integration of @GoodSamApp into @AmbulanceVic well ahead of other services in Oz A gem. Will be missed
In affectionate memory of a good, kind man who did so much to advance the standards and excellence of paramedical in Victoria. You will be missed, @agwalker01, and you will be remembered with deep respect.

It's a weird feeling to voluntarily give up my GMC licence to practise medicine. It's a mixture of poignancy and elation. But Mostly relief. Leaving the NHS was, overall, the best. It feels like the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another. 🧵 1/5

When the capnograpy is connected or integrated in the ventilator machine it may be impossible or awkward to use the capno during manual bagging. I have seen that before
