Marc Andreessen reveals why housing, health care, and education keep getting more expensive while everything else gets cheaper "There's basically three components to the American dream. A house near great job opportunities, great health care for you and your family, and sending your kids to good schools" "If you disaggregate the economy over the last 25 years, everything that technology touches basically collapses in price. Television sets, computer games, anything with electronics in it. But if you chart housing, education, and health care, the prices of those things are skyrocketing" "The government restricts supply, zoning laws and university certifications. And then the government responds to the political pressure caused by the rising prices by subsidizing demand. And of course, if you subsidize demand and a fixed supply, you get skyrocketing prices"

I would add that the fastest growing demographic of the homeless are women and over 90% reports they've been sexuallly assaulted. Thank you for what you do.

This is likely your new D8 Supervisor San Francisco. He wants to decriminalize drugs and use your tax dollars to give free drugs to all the homeless drug users in the city. My God. @garrytan

Remember when pensions were put in place for government employees because they were paid so much less than private sector employees? Now gov employees have high salaries AND pensions that you pay for ... forever. @CJ_Roses @micsolana

Holy shit this woman is the best communicator of basic economics to regular people I've seen in ages. More of her please.
"Housing is one of the largest ways things are going wrong for young people. And people blame that on capitalism, because that's the status quo. But, in fact, housing is one of the sectors of our economy that is least exposed to the free market." @emmma_camp_ joins @maggiemoda and @SamRaus1 for the pilot episode of Breaking Containment, Young Voices' new podcast about the stories that shape the timeline and front page. Full episode out this Friday at 3 PM ET.

Typical “progressive” corruption and absolute refusal to face the music. These criminals lie, steal and kill. And we LET THEM.
LOS ANGELES: According to her office, Mayor Karen Bass will not travel to Washington, D.C., to testify before Congress after being called to appear over concerns about how federal homelessness funds have been spent in Los Angeles. Her office says Bass has a scheduling conflict and will not attend the Sept. 15 hearing. The city says it is cooperating with the congressional records request.

We now have evidence of how at least $7.7 billion for homelessness was spent on salaries. They created a jobs program that grows at the expense of the actual homeless who need help instead of helping the homeless. The waste is astounding. 🧵
$7.7 BILLION — that's how much compensation grew at America's homeless NGOs from 2013 to 2024, while homelessness rose to a record 771,480. The system pays for inputs, not outcomes. Our new report analyzed the IRS filings of 1,458 HUD-funded NGOs. ciceroinstitute.org/research…

This is a scam. It's just free money for drug addicts. We tried this in San Francisco. Addicts would just pour cola on clean needles, stick them in a Sharps container and return them for cash. More radical harm reduction from @drugpolicyorg.

Federally indicted Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao is poor, so how is she affording one of the most expensive lawyers in America? Why is there no one in the media asking that question? What is Rob Bonta’s role in the Thao/Duong corruption trial? Why did he spend nearly $500K on lawyers after learning the Duongs may have a blackmail video of him? When will Oaklanders get accountability and justice for our corrupt leadership? When will Oaklanders wake up and realize the same criminals who controlled Sheng Thao are now controlling Barbara Lee? Just asking questions no one else will...

Bonnie Pierce Some mothers would save their children at all costs. Other mothers would kill their children at all costs. "Firefighters found Bonnie inside, using her own body as a shield to cover her daughter from the flames. Bonnie sustained severe smoke inhalation and burns over 48% of her body, tragically passing away from her injuries on August 24. Her daughter survived and is expected to make a full recovery." Bonnie, not Lindsay Clancy, is my hero. May Bonnie Rest in Peace with the rest of the angels. #BonniePierce #LindsayClancy

In her latest sciolistic letter to me, @SenWarren made it clear that she knows even less about foreign exchange markets than she does about banking. What is equally shocking, but not surprising: not a single member of the media mob has a rudimentary-enough level of financial market literacy to spot her remedial error. To reiterate: under @POTUS, the United States delivers for America’s trusted partners. For a fuller explanation, I recommend Senator Warren take any entry level course in international finance for her and her staff, or I can personally give her a tutorial on Foreign Exchange for Dummies. Although I am not holding my breath, I hope her next letter will demonstrate that she has learned the difference between a currency purchase and a swap or a loan.

Homelessness is a drug and mental health crisis. I've had enough of the gaslighting. @elonmusk @choeshow @kevinvdahlgren @SecretaryTurner
👀TRUTH: Homelessness IS an addiction and mental health crisis. @choeshow and @kevinvdahlgren break down what’s really driving homelessness on America’s streets: severe drug addiction & untreated mental illness. You can’t solve addiction and mental illness with housing alone.

Brilliant explanation by Nick Shirley here. The Left’s trick is their narrative in play: ‘You can’t go after a non-profit civil rights group for fraud. You are threatening them.’

“My understanding “. Who is this fucking bootlicker”?
🔥 WOW! Nick Shirley spotted absolutely MIC DROPPING an insufferable New York Times “reporter” who’s defending the California Stop Nick Shirley Act You can tell she did NOT expect Nick to outsmart her! These people think they’re more important than all of us. They support censoring journalists who expose fraud! MASTERCLASS, @nickshirleyy 🔥 The Stop Nick Shirley Act needs to be taken to court, all the way up to SCOTUS if needed! Imposing fines on people for doing journalism is pure tyranny, Newsom.

Since there are about 50k more of you than there were two days ago, I thought I’d reintroduce myself. Hi, I’m Emma. I’m a writer and editor for @WSJFreeEx. I write about politics and culture, and make videos about economics (and more!) I have a book about Gen Z and risk aversion, called “NO HARD FEELINGS,” coming out next summer with @randomhouse. You probably know me for my videos, but writing is where my heart is. If you like cultural criticism and want to know more about Gen Z culture from AI girlfriends to “former gifted kids” to Luigi Mangione, you’ll want to grab a copy. A few fun facts: 1. I grew up in Alabama, and I attended a fine arts magnet school where I studied creative writing for 3 hours a day. 2. I went to @UVA, where I met my amazing husband, joined a 200-year-old debating society, and broke the internet when I wrote a @nytopinion essay about my experiences. 3. I LOVE to throw cocktail parties. I love coming up with new recipes, playing around with different flavors, and inviting dozens of people over to try my drinks. I was once even dubbed an “apex predator” of hosting. 4. I used to sew a LOT. I even made my own wedding dress. Excited for what’s next! And stay tuned for book updates, more videos, and lots of cocktail pictures.
Can rent control fix the housing crisis? No. In fact, it could make things a whole lot worse. Find out more in my latest for @WSJFreeEx

I was out taking photos for my VOTE NASHVILLE campaign, working to help raise local voter turnout from 20% to at least 30% in the 2027 elections, when I met an elder whose business sits on historic Jefferson Street. He is a Tennessee State University alumnus. We had our own sign. He wanted to use his. His sign was enormous: “VOTE — Photo ID Required.” Think about that. This is an elder who has spent his life fighting for the right of Black people to vote. And he was adamant that people should show identification to exercise that right. Yet we are constantly told by white progressives that demanding basic voting standards is somehow an attack on Black people. That argument doesn't empower Black people. It infantilizes us.
