He didn’t understand why the car ride ended at a shelter.
He didn’t understand why his person walked away.
All he knew was… they weren’t coming back.
He pressed his head against the cold floor, eyes full of confusion and heartbreak.
Every time someone passed his kennel, he lifted his head hoping it was them.
But the door never opened.
He wasn’t aggressive.
He wasn’t “broken.”
He was devoted… and devastated.
Dogs don’t just miss their owners.
They grieve them like family.

There is no indication of what they were doing. They may have simply been holding hands, or kissing. Or they may have been doing something actually immoral. In any case, there is no redemption or actual mercy in Islam; they had to be killed.
