It was a privilege to join the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers at their conference in Denver. Unions built the middle class. I’ll always have their backs.

The nonpartisan civil servants who make up our federal workforce play a critical role in carrying out the laws passed by Congress and serving the public. As a member of the Federal Workforce Caucus, I was pleased to meet with members of AFGE Local 3631 for a productive discussion about the challenges facing federal workers in the wake of the Trump administration’s cancellation of their union contracts, and re-emerging threats to environmental protection.

Today is International Day of the Air Traffic Controller. Air Traffic Controllers have some of the toughest and highest-pressure jobs out there, making sure our skies are safe to fly for the American people. So let’s send some appreciation to @NATCA air traffic controllers and aviation workers in their fight for safety—both for workers and the flying public. 🛫

For 100 years, its been the hardworking men and women at the South Jersey Port that have kept our region supplied and shared what we've made with the world.   It was great to be there this week at their annual safety day to celebrate that storied history. Here's to another safe and successful hundred years!

Health care costs are skyrocketing again because of bad policies from out-of-touch politicians. We’re fighting alongside @ProtectOurCare so working families don’t have to choose between seeing a doctor and putting food on the table.

Last week, I met with members of the @LIUNA laborers' union at their Walt Disney World worksite. We are grateful for their efforts to advance local infrastructure and keep Central Florida moving forward!

It was great to speak with labor leaders from across Illinois at the University of Illinois Labor Education Advisory Board meeting. My grandfather was a union painter, my grandmother was a union teacher, and I’m a dues-paying UFCW member myself. The labor movement isn’t just something I support — it’s part of who I am.

I know firsthand what it’s like to work on the job site during the day, then head into the classroom to get an education at night. I was proud to be at Rowan University yesterday as they joined with the AFL-CIO to extend that opportunity to countless union members and their family:

The steelworkers at Granite City Works have fought hard to keep that mill running. I sat down with the USW Local 1899 to talk about what comes next, because an agreement that expires in 2027 is a starting point, not a finish line. The work ahead is about ensuring these investments continue to create opportunities and strengthen the communities that power our economy.

Thank you to UFCW Local 75 for having us at their annual Steward Seminar. The work you do deserves recognition, but more importantly, it deserves fair pay, good benefits, safe working conditions, and the respect every worker has earned. 🙏🏻💙

So much energy today at SEIU1199’s Frontline Fest! It was great joining to celebrate our frontline care workers and stand by them in the fight to protect affordable healthcare for every Long Islander.

It was an honor speaking at the Buffalo International Film Festival, where 'Partners' highlighted the Buffalo Starbucks workers who launched an iconic nationwide movement for union representation in 2021. These workers stood up to one of the world’s largest and most recognizable corporations to demand a seat at the table. Their fight is a powerful reminder that workers’ rights are hard-won and must be protected. As a New York State Senator, I called on Starbucks to bargain in good faith, end retaliation against organizers, and respect workers’ right to organize. Now as your Congressman, I remain committed to standing with workers and defending the rights generations of labor leaders fought to secure.

At Dulles Airport, @RepSuhas and I joined @ProtectOurCare and 32BJ SEIU airport service workers for the “Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now” national bus tour to hear directly from workers about the consequences of our nation’s healthcare system. One worker shared that he has gone without health coverage for 10 years because he cannot afford it, while another woman is alive today because the Affordable Care Act covered her chemotherapy. These stories are a powerful reminder that healthcare is not a luxury. It is a necessity, and no one should have to go without coverage or face the impossible choice between their health and their financial security.

As a proud union card-carrying member, I know life is better in a union.

Enjoyed stopping by the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters Open House earlier this week in Merrillville. Such a great event for students to directly see this world-class facility and the incredible career opportunities available in our region.

I stand with MGB nurses and Home Care clinicians!   I urged @MassGenBrigham leadership to honor their commitment to patient safety by returning to the negotiating table in good faith and reaching a fair contract with @MassNurses.   Our dedicated nurses deserve a contract that reflects the world-class care they provide to our communities. Nurses are always there for us, and I am proud to stand in solidarity with them!
