His characteristic of us as a degenerate or immature engineering field instead of not one at all was interesting.

It doesn't strike me as too odd, though wiktionary says it's obsolete :/ feel like that's a bit strong

Iran is already legitimised. If Iran had nuclear weapons we would all be wealtheir, because judeo-american forces would never have attacked.

He was legit one of the first names I searched for when the Epstein files were released - old guy - loves israel - insists younger males call him "uncle"

I would not wish for this too much. The decline of a super powers are far more violent then people ever recall; despite all the petty nationalist propaganda obscuring the details, the fall of the British Empire and USSR alike were humanitarian disasters. US would be no different.

I have so many more questions... what's the structure (different files, one jsonl, one literal giant json object)... how often are you going to query this thing... feeling very nerd sniped.

New heuristic: - low latency/consistency is the right choice when the database is downstream of reality, ie logistics. - high latency/consistency is the right choice when what's in the databse *is* reality, ie banking I need to sit with this for a bit.

IDFK the guy, but you did start out by calling it bait which was confrontational. You could just ask what it meant, mabye he just phrased it badly, that's different from him lacking integrity.

I agree though 1tb of JSON is ridiculous. I would have a lot of questions too.

Yeah I can abstractly appreciate it, but it's just not a thing I value at all.

It's like that movie about the bald men jazz man, and he's like "to play in my FUCKING Jazz band you have to FUCKING PLAY JAZZ RIGHT, JAZZ is serious business" and it's all dramatic and people are crying and I'm just like "lol they are playing trumpets who cares".

Trying to read Unreasonable Hospitality, but I find it hard to take the restaurant industry seriously. I know they work hard and are talented, but I am not a sophisticated diner, and so it's always just comical. WE NEED THE BEST SOUFFLEE IN ALL OF NEW YORK, OH NO THE NAPKINS!!!11

Unreasonable Hospitality is my #1 “it’s not about product but it really is” and has greatly shaped my view of things. Build is also great because he really does dismantle the idealized culture many people imagine a business succeeds in and goes into how things actually are made
