Because I want everybody to listen to Gabe’s interview with Randy Levine, I thought I’d invite you to play a game. Mr. Levine makes what I believe are three very clear misstatements of law in his approximately 15 minutes of speaking. Listen, and see how many you can pick out.
New episode of @SportsLawPod: Randy Levine, President of the @Yankees and co-chair of President Trump’s Council on College Sports, joins to discuss his role in the Protect College Sports Act, the future of college sports, the debate over collective bargaining, and why he believes this may be Congress’s last and best chance to fix college athletics. Good flip side to arguments that the NFL should keep their planned game in Paris. And, also, it's making me feel a little bit nervous about teaching at the Sorbonne in January.
From the pod: my thoughts on the NFL’s insistence on playing the game in Paris on Sunday..

The entire Randy Levine interview, which Gabe conducts professionally, to me portrays a man who tells us that he’s the expert, the law is what he says it is, and college athletes are getting a good deal. It’s a man who does not show his work and can’t rebut opposing conclusions.
Everybody should listen to this podcast episode, and pay attention to Randy Levine’s tone and demeanor around the 14 minute mark when Gabe asks Randy why college athletes don’t have more voice. This is the tell of a man who didn’t want that question and couldn’t handle it.

I was heavier and had bigger sideburns in 2014, but not a lot else has changed. Forward this video to 3:27 and you will hear me discussing why the #NCAA is likely to use its lobbying power to seek an #antitrust exemption & why Congress shouldn't do it. piped.video/watch?v=tEwyBufp…

This is a bigger deal than people think. I have no doubt NFL would like a Europe division if they get union sign-off, and an NFL division needs four teams. I'm pretty sure London, Dublin and Berlin/Munich are locked in. If the Paris thing works, it may be a go from league side.

As a sports law professor, the biggest change I’ve seen in recent years is Super PACs now trying to achieve legislatively what some big businesses cannot get judicially. I’ve written a lot about legislative capture in college sports. Here it appears in sports gambling.
Super PACs backed by the sports betting industry have spent nearly $8.3 million on New York political races in 2026 so far, and have ramped up their general election spending in recent weeks. Here's how sports gambling Is betting big in New York. nysfocus.com/2026/10/19/new-…

Six questions that reporters should be asking Maria Cantwell about her support of the #PCSA but for the most part aren't: 1. Your views on college athlete rights have changed substantially in recent years from once seeming to support athletes' free economic rights to now desiring to curb them. Who influenced you to change your thinking on this matter? (The 'who' is what matters). 2. @achristovichh ran a story online today about a new college sports Super PAC that has targeted Congresspeople. Has anyone with that Super PAC, or with otherwise similar interests who may run in similar circles, spoken to you? 3. In a similar vein, have you spoken with anyone from the Knight Commission, and if so who? If you have, who did they claim to represent? And, what were their talking points? 4. @DionneKoller was your No. 1 choice to testify before Congress on college sports issues in 2020. She strongly opposes this bill. Why don't you still trust Dionne's guidance? 5. @RulingSports also states having publicly spoken to your staff and opposed the bill. Yet, you disagree with her too. Why isn't her guidance compelling? 6. To the extent you believe this bill is good for female athletes, what does it mean to you that so many well-known, female sports law professors including @DionneKoller, @RulingSports, @ammoorman, @NellieDrew1 all publicly oppose the bill? If that's not probative of anything to you, why not?

1. Excellent article by @achristovichh, who is establishing herself as one of the top sports business journalists. 2. Also, wow, is this college sports industry dislikable! As much as we teach students that might doesn’t make right, higher ed sure behaves as if it does!
NEW: College sports now has a Super PAC. The College Sports United PAC registered last month. It will be backed by boosters form smaller D-I schools who want a voice in the industry's future. The goal: to get the Protect College Sports Act passed. frontofficesports.com/articl…

I am not sure what is going to be more fun for me: watching the upcoming Milwaukee Brewers v Tampa Bay Rays World Series, or watching Rob Manfred and friends try to sell America on Baseball needing a salary cap because the large market teams with high salaries always win. #MLB
