Antes de regresar a Costa Rica, me despedí del Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas, @AntonioGuterres, quien reconoció las contribuciones de Costa Rica en los once procesos intergubernamentales, mandatos y resoluciones que asumí durante estos cuatro años, en defensa de los intereses y prioridades de nuestra política exterior. La paz, el desarme y la seguridad internacional, incluyendo el control de armamento y la lucha contra el tráfico ilícito de armas pequeñas y ligeras y las municiones convencionales. Los derechos humanos, desde los derechos de la niñez y los derechos de las comunidades afrodescendientes hasta los derechos de las mujeres y las niñas. El desarrollo sostenible y la protección de los países más vulnerables al cambio climático y al aumento del nivel del mar. El establecimiento de los cimientos para la gobernanza de la inteligencia artificial. Y la renovación de la solidaridad humanitaria, con un Llamado a la Acción respaldado por la gran mayoría de los Estados Miembros. En todos ellos, Costa Rica forjó consensos que otros veían lejanos. Regreso a San José con la satisfacción del deber cumplido.
