The thesis is clear. Each exchange has a mascot. CashCat for Robinhood, BaseCat for CoinBase.

$GTA is the realest GTA play on Solana and it’s still early. This isn’t some random ticker riding GTA6 hype. This is the one with the actual OG founding developer of Grand Theft Auto Mike Dailly fully onboard. He’s actively engaging with the community! @mdf200

Amazing back story on #GTA3 from one of the creators. solana:2wMTr4ZttVr5tmS4wLStee59wi8f9QQfMtT2Hoispump #GTA
25 years ago, on October 22, 2001, Grand Theft Auto III was released. This is the team that made it. (I'm second from the right) Here's what I remember about making it. For most of development, GTA3 was in a sorry state. It crashed frequently, the frame rate was terrible and the map was full of holes. Only in the last six months did everything come together. For the longest time, it looked like the frame rate was going to be 20 fps. Only in the final months did we manage to hit 30. In 1999, DMA Design, based in Dundee, Scotland, was going through some changes. The company had recently been bought by Take-Two Interactive, and a satellite office had opened in Edinburgh. Space Station Silicon Valley for the N64 had been finished in 1998, but there was no new project lined up. Leslie Benzies and Aaron Garbut started working on GTA3. Unprompted. Meanwhile, the original GTA1 and GTA2 team had started work on GTA2.5, set in Miami. It was called 2.5 because it used the 2.5D (isometric) perspective. In March 2000, the Dundee office was closed and GTA2.5 was cancelled. Take-Two/Rockstar gave GTA3 the green light. Everything was written from scratch. Only two people worked on both GTA2 and GTA3, and no code or art from GTA2 was reused. The way we worked was organic. People would come up with ideas for missions and we'd just try them. If they were fun, they were in. The story was secondary. In fact, the opening plot involving Catalina trying to kill Claude was added well into development. Leslie Benzies (the producer) plastered a wall in the boardroom with Post-it notes. They were yellow, green and pink, representing missions, contacts and locations. Missions were moved around all the time, often handed from one contact to another. Only once the voice acting was recorded were these things set in stone. You sometimes come across locations on the map that are more detailed than you'd expect. Chances are there used to be a mission contact there that got moved elsewhere. Working on GTA3 was a lot of fun. Every day there was something new going in. A new mission, radio station, car, pedestrian, building or whatever. The game was growing at an incredible rate. Other than the multiplayer mode we did some work on, I can’t remember a lot of wastage. Although everybody worked hard, I don't remember many people doing crazy hours. On the rare occasions I was in over the weekend, there were usually only one or two others. Even during crunch time, most people left the office around 9 or 10 in the evening. I always thought it was better to work eight focused hours than spend your life in the office. Although we liked the game, it wasn't at all clear that it would be a hit. GTA3 had a disappointing showing at E3 in May 2001. Most people weren't interested, and those who were thought it was too violent. It had an OK launch, but sales never tapered off. Our office was in Leith, Edinburgh. It was a fairly run-down neighbourhood at the time. Just a couple of years before we arrived, J.K. Rowling had been writing the first Harry Potter in that very same neighbourhood. The thing I remember most is the camaraderie. In a small team, everybody relies on each other and everybody has a lot of input. Most of us were young and had only recently moved to Edinburgh. We went to the pub together. It felt like a group of friends who happened to be working on a project together. nitter.siddz.com/ObbeVermeij/status/178… nitter.siddz.com/ObbeVermeij/status/175… nitter.siddz.com/ObbeVermeij/status/187… nitter.siddz.com/ObbeVermeij/status/182… nitter.siddz.com/ObbeVermeij/status/179…

Kimchi is the first person to truly cross the chasm between crypto and pop culture; the first ever example of a trader becoming a celebrity. He represents exactly where we’re heading: a massive social trading ecosystem that onboards retail and grows to 10x the size we were last cycle. The next wave of users does not come from CT - it comes from the masses - and we're proud to have Kimchi help us set the creative direction that will pave us on the path to a 100x larger ecosystem.
Community note
Pump.fun promotes @kimchi1x as an aspirational celebrity trader via ads and partnership posts. His widely cited $40M $TRUMP profit lacks public wallet verification, while associated wallets show repeated early bundling/sniping of launches followed by sells. bitcoinfoundation.org/news/people-in… x.com/SpecterAnalyst… x.com/mlmabc/status/… x.com/ftosol/status/… x.com/a1lon9/status/…
Community note
Kimchi is presented as a verified trader celebrity crossing into pop culture, but his signature claims of ~$40M profits trading $TRUMP (and resulting wealth) remain unverified with no disclosed wallet or on-chain proof. memecoin.wiki/wiki/kimchi bitcoinfoundation.org/news/people-in… tapbit.com/en/learn/artic…

@cobie @jessepollak If a Coin on Pump fun can reach 5-7m market cap, why are strong communities listed on a major ecosystem like Base sitting at 3-4m? @doginme @KeyboardCatBase @o1bluechip @base @CoinbaseWallet Stop fading true hardworking communities….
This has to be a joke😅 @cobie @jessepollak @brian_armstrong @CoinbaseWallet Every single person who bought either coin on the Coinbase listing is still holding in a huge loss. Not a single buyer who bought after your announcement is green. Not even close. You listed base:0xb200000000000000000000cfbdf64a8706a94a01 and actively PVPed your main runner. base:0xb2000000000000000000004c27f6523082f41d01 was the only real narrative Base had and you killed the momentum by splitting liquidity and attention the second it started getting eyes. Every time Base gets any attention you somehow find a way to fumble it. Listings used to mean something. Now they’re just an exit for the people who were already in and a trap for anyone new who trusted you. You make billions a year and still can’t give the people who actually use Base a reason to stay. There’s still sidelined capital sitting there waiting for a reason to buy, but you keep giving them absolute zero. No one trusts Base right now because of this exact behaviour. Right now there is 0 reason to ever buy a memecoin listed on Coinbase again. Time and time again it’s proven to be a top signal. You can still fix it. Or you can keep watching every Base memecoin bleed out the second you touch it. This isn’t a shot at the bluechip community, I personally bought a little as a hedge thinking base would ensure one of these would do well. Jokes on me. Depending on what happens here it may be the last time I ever buy a base memecoin again. Market hasn’t been great recently so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt. Hardhat stays on. Make Base great again🫡

I’m sick of being nice and even though this will likely mark the bottom I have to say it. @cobie @jessepollak @brian_armstrong @CoinbaseWallet Every single holder that bought either $Basecat or base:0xb200000000000000000000cfbdf64a8706a94a01 on the Coinbase listing is in a loss. Do you understand how bad that is for the future of base memecoins? Like seriously you are that naive You guys make BILLIONS every year in revenue. Then turn your back on your users that trust you. Why would anyone ever pay for a Coinbase listing again if even base native tokens go down only on the listing. You can still fix things but it all starts here. At the moment no one trusts base at all. Theres so much sidelined capital waiting for reasons to buy but you give them absolute 0 Stop playing around. Its time to make base great again.

In a sea full of red, BaseCat is green. Look out for the strongest communities and accumulators. When the market turns around they’re more prone to explode in price action. @thebrianjung
