The thing about Algorand is that it’s just good software.
People love to say “best tech doesn’t mean it will succeed.” And when they say that, they’re usually talking about speed, features, TPS, whatever the flavor-of-the-month metric is. Algorand doesn’t just have great tech though. More importantly, it’s Good Software^tm.
The protocol is so elegant. Dare I say divinely inspired -- that shit probably came to Silvio in a dream, it’s so good. 😂 Even with a skeleton crew on the protocol side (and don’t get me wrong, those engineers are world-class, which is a big part of why it’s still so competitive) and a treasury that isn’t as healthy as it should be, Algorand is still class leader in a bunch of areas, including PQ (which is wild btw). Other chains still need to run a datacenter just to function, and they still haven’t caught up after YEARS in spite of mindboggling spend. It’s going to be hard for them to catch up because Algorand’s underlying design is just that good.
Essentially, good, elegant software (not "best tech") has a way of beating the odds -- especially when the stakes are as high as global finance.
That’s my underlying thesis, and why I’m still an Algorand maxi after years of pain, suffering, and humiliation 😅
It’s probably hard for non-technical retail investors to fully grasp why Good Software is such a massive advantage and why I continue to make such an outrageous bet. Another thing it does: it attracts world-class talent. You can see it both inside the organization and in the broader community. Like, we have some of the foremost experts in PQ cryptography working here, so it’s no wonder Google cited us as the leader in PQ. The talent around Algorand is unreal.
Don’t get me wrong -- it’s not going to be smooth sailing. Good software is necessary and provides a massive advantage, but it is not sufficient.
Distribution, narrative, good products that generate revenue -- these things are critical, and we are re-thinking and doubling down on them (just wait, you’ll see). So yeah, this is not NFA. Strap in. It’s going to be a wild ride. But I’m very confident it will be worth it.
