📊 Statistical Query for the #ScienceCommunity: Is statistical practice a matter of opinion? 📊 I recently overheard a debate on best practices in statistical analysis... 🧵 (1/3)
... Opinions were divided on whether to apply a correction for multiple comparisons when conducting several t-tests to follow up on a significant interaction involving multiple factors in an #ANOVA. (2/3)
Oops, seems like our imaging technique got a little misinterpreted! 🧠🔍
We actually used #MRI 🧲, not PET, to investigate the magnocellular LGN in developmental #dyslexia.
Curious about the findings? Check out our latest article now published in @Brain1878 🎉
Using 7T PET, Müller-Axt et al. reveal extensive alterations in the magnocellular lateral geniculate nucleus in people with developmental dyslexia. tinyurl.com/msunkcsw
Finally, M-LGN responses correlated w/ diagnostic #reading scores in males but not females with dyslexia. These findings offer insights into sex-specific differences in dyslexia and could shape future #diagnostic and #treatment strategies! #Neuroscience#LearningDisorders (4/5)
Incredibly excited to see this work out! We've put in a lot of effort getting MMORF to this point, and I'm quietly pleased with just how well it performs. Please get in touch if you have any questions, or just want some pointers on trying MMORF with your own data. #FSL @OxfordWIN

The Cerebral Cortex and Thalamus edited by S. Murray Sherman, W. Martin Usrey - Oxford University Press - global.oup.com/academic/prod…
The thalamus has often been treated as a minor, rather insignificant player in cortical functioning. This book is going to change that view forever.

The thalamus has often been treated as a minor, rather insignificant player in cortical functioning. In the not too distant past, the thalamus was considered a rather boring, machine-like relay of subcortical information to the cortex. Over the past decade, there has been a groundswell of new and renewed interest in the thalamus and thalamocortical interactions, leading to discoveries demonstrating the thalamus's ongoing and essential role in cortical functioning and, likewise, the significance of the cortex for thalamic functioning.
The Cerebral Cortex and Thalamus is a groundbreaking volume bringing together a cohesive account of cortical and thalamic mechanisms for control of behavior with an emphasis on the importance of interactions between the two structures. The book elucidates the research that makes it increasingly clear that the cortex and thalamus are necessary partners for sensory, motor, and cognitive functions. Interactions betwee
What a week! I’m proud, grateful, and insanely happy to announce that I‘m officially #PhDone ! Thank you @kvonkriegstein for your great support and supervision, and thanks to all of my colleagues, family, and friends for sharing this special moment with me. 🧡👩🎓💐 @TUD_Science
