This picture belongs in a museum, the West Side and the Baltimore Police Department officially holding it down together🥶 Seeing D'Angelo, McNulty, WeeBey, Marlo, Bunk, Slim Charles, and the Rhonda all gathered for Mcnulty premiere is a top-tier moment for us😂 If you told a fan back during Season 3 that Marlo and WeeBey would be smiling in a group photo with Jimmy McNulty, their head would have exploded😂😭 #TheWire #Bunk #mcnulty #WendellPierce #DominicWest

This may well be the worst thing that could ever happen to the already crazed world of youth sports. Promoting this kind of BS reality show “watch me” parental behavior.
Kim Kardashian's docuseries about youth baseball moms, "Team Moms: Baseball," has released its first trailer. It will premiere Sept. 24 on Paramount+.

Max Strus says making the NBA required him to accept he doesn’t have a bag anymore and that shooting got him on the floor but defense would keep him out there “I don’t have a bag. I used to have a bag back in college, but I don’t anymore because you find what your niche is and you just go at it.” “I knew shooting the basketball was going to get me on the floor, and then I knew playing defense was going to keep me on the floor. I’ll guard the best player. I don’t care. They’re going to score on me because everybody’s that good. You can’t really stop anybody anyway.” “So it’s like, how can I make it as tough as possible on them? I don’t need to shoot the ball. I’m all right. I can do other things that I know are helping the team win. How can I make Donovan Mitchell better? How can I make James Harden better? How can I make Jarrett Allen better?” “If I feel like I haven’t gotten a shot, it’s like, all right, go crash the offensive rebound and get it. I’m not going to sit here and cry to myself about not shooting the ball or not being involved. Make yourself useful.” “My first couple years [in Miami], I don’t think I dribbled the ball once. Come off a handoff and shoot, come off a screen and shoot, and then defend and rebound. That’s all I did.” “As you continue to build more confidence within the team, within the coach, they put you in positions where, all right, now I can do a little bit more.” “You’ve got to have the humbleness to humble yourself to, ‘I’m not that guy anymore. I can’t be that guy anymore.’ But then be ready for the opportunity when it does come, ‘No, I could still be that guy. That’s just not what we need right now. But when we do, I got you.’”

Von Miller reveals after Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman suspended him, he packed everything he owned into his truck and started driving to Florida to transfer, when he called his he dad told him not to quit, so he turned around and led the nation with 17.5 sacks the next season “I had everything I owned in this blanket, and I went to my car. I threw it in the back and I’m driving home. I called my daddy. I’m like, ‘Daddy, man, I’m leaving. Coach Sherman kicked me off the team. I ain’t coming back until I do this and that.’” “I’m thinking my dad is going, ‘All right, we’re going to find something else.’ He said, ‘Pull that truck over, turn around, and go back to school. You’re not quitting.’” “I was like, ‘That was not the answer I was looking for.’ He was like, ‘You’re not just about to quit when it gets hard. You’re going to turn that truck back around. You’re going to go back to school and you’re going to fix it.’” “I had tears going down my face. I was like, ‘Man, this is going to be so hard to fix all of this.’ I turned around. We had a meeting. Coach Sherman told my dad the exact same thing that he told me, and my dad agreed with Coach Sherman.” “There was nowhere I could go. I just had to face the music. I had to face the truth. That spring was a hard one, but I got my grades up. I made it to all my classes. I went through the checklist of everything Coach Sherman wanted me to do.” “That following year, my junior year, was the best year that I had up until that day. I led the nation in sacks. I had 17 and a half sacks. My life had totally changed. That was all a testament to running straight through the storm. The shortest way through the storm is straight. I put my head down and I worked, and my life totally changed that offseason.”

Doc Rivers HOF speech: "When I was playing for the Knicks, Coach Pat Riley & I had the biggest argument in my entire playing career "Jeff Van Gundy told me years later he was standing outside the door…thinking he may have to come in if he heard furniture moving "Finally during the shouting match Coach looked at me and said: 'One day when you're a head coach––and you will be one (he was screaming at me) you WILL be one––you're gonna understand exactly where I'm coming from' "And I literally yelled back at him: 'Are you crazy? I am neeever gonna coach; every coach that I know––they're nuts' "Well I wanna tell Coach Riley thank you for being right on all accounts "And one of the lessons he taught me was: Never coach a person for who they are today; push them to who they should be someday "That was very important for me"

Man to man The average milionaire is 57. Not 21. The average age to start a business is 43. Not 23. The average age to buy a house is 38. Not 26. The average age for a career pivot is 39. Not 25. Building animpressive physique takes 3 years. Not 90 days The average successful business takes 5-10 years. Not 6 months. So stop measuring your life against someone else's timeline. You're not behind. You're still bulding. And you're right on time.

Another reason sports are the best. What a great story.
In 2003, the most hated team in the NBA did the kindest thing anyone has ever done on a basketball court. April 25, 2003. Rose Garden, Portland. Game 3 of the first round against Dallas. The Blazers are down 2-0 and facing elimination from the moment they wake up. That Blazers team had a nickname. The Jail Blazers. They were, at the time, maybe the least likable team in professional sports. Arrests. Suspensions. A roster full of guys the national media treated as villains. Portland fans were exhausted by them. Before the game, a 13 year old girl named Natalie Gilbert walks to center court to sing the national anthem in front of 19,980 people. What nobody in the building knew is that she was sick. She had the flu. She later said she just didn't feel like herself at all that day. She gets a few lines in. And then her brain goes blank. She sings "star's last gleaming" instead of "twilight's last gleaming," realizes it instantly, and stops. She looks around. She puts her hand to her face. Thirteen years old. Twenty thousand people. National television. Frozen. There is no worse feeling available to a human being. And then a man walks out of the Portland huddle. Maurice Cheeks, the head coach, minutes away from a playoff elimination game, leaves his team, walks across the floor, puts his arm around her shoulder and says, "C'mon." Then he starts singing with her. Now understand something. Maurice Cheeks cannot sing. At all. He is not remotely trying to rescue the performance. He's just refusing to let a kid stand there alone. He keeps his arm around her the whole way. He feeds her the next words. And within a few seconds, all 19,980 people in that building stand up and sing it with them. A moment that was going to define a little girl's life in the worst possible way became the exact opposite. Dan Patrick wrote at the time that Cheeks' simple actions had become the defining moment of the entire playoffs. They went on Jay Leno together. CNN. Good Morning America. It became one of the first truly viral NBA moments, years before that word meant anything. Portland lost the game. They lost the series. Cheeks finished his Blazers tenure with a fairly ordinary record and was eventually let go. Now here's the ending. In March 2025, almost 22 years later, Maurice Cheeks came back to Portland as an assistant coach with the New York Knicks. The Blazers found Natalie Gilbert. She's 35 now. Married. Goes by Natalie Zito. She's also, as it turns out, a Blazers season ticket holder. They brought her back to sing the anthem again. She nailed it. The whole building erupted. And the camera cut to Cheeks on the sideline, beaming like a proud father. The two of them met before the game and hugged. What she said afterward is why this story matters. She explained that she'd been made fun of a lot as a kid, and that in the moment she felt most helpless and hopeless, a stranger walked right over with no hesitation. "This moment changed my life." And then she said something even better. That she wouldn't go back and change any of it. That seeing him again and finding out he's still the same standup guy proved it was all real. Twenty two years. One arm around a shoulder. Follow @thesportsontap, we post a story like this every day.

$100,000 a year is the new $39,000. In 1990, a $100,000 salary had the same buying power as about $255,000 today. Today, $100,000 buys what roughly $39,000 bought in 1990. A six-figure salary isn’t what it used to be.
BREAKING: New study finds that a minimum-wage worker in 1971 had a lifestyle affordability similar to someone making $100K today.

Good player. Fun to coach.
Lehigh 6’4 Guard Josh Ingram has the potential to be one of the best mid major draft prospects in college basketball next season. Ingram had a strong season last year for Lehigh where he averaged 11/5/3 and shot 49% from the field and 38% from three on 4 attempts a game. Ingram has a strong mix of defense, shooting, passing, finishing, rebounding, motor, athleticism, creation, and off ball instincts that makes him an extremely valuable and versatile player who has among the best glue guys and two way players in the country last year. Ingram is a high level defender who was one of the best guard defenders in the country last year. Ingram plays with a high motor and uses his size and athleticism to defend in one on one situations at an elite level where players shot just 24% on isolation’s against him, he’s also great at attacking passing lanes and is a strong shot blocker for his height. On the offensive end Ingram is an extremely skilled off ball player who’s great at getting open as a spot up shooter and is also a high level driver who shot 70% at the rim. Ingram is also an elite cutter and strong connective passer. Ingram is also an efficient off the dribble scorer who’s great at creating space for himself. Ingram was also one of 5 players in college basketball last season who had an AST% of 15, shoot 35% from three on 40 makes, and shoot 70% at the rim on 40 makes, joining Bennett Stirtz, Bruce Thornton, Christian Anderson, and Yaxel Lendeborg. Ingram returned to Lehigh where he’s set to get a bigger role and he has the potential to be one of the best mid major players in the country and be a breakout draft prospect.
