Fantastic day at Knepp with some amazing volunteers. Huge efforts in coppicing for stork nesting material which is especially crucial for our non-flying storks in the predator-proof enclosure. Fingers crossed for a successful breeding season and huge thanks to all involved

Many of our storks have now migrated but some still remain in Sussex, a small group has been seen foraging in fields around the River Rother recently.
Thanks to everyone for ongoing sightings and wonderful photographs! 📷Thanks to Alastair Lloyd

Thank you to everyone who has submitted a sighting recently. We have had several reports of a group of around 30 storks foraging in fields around Sandwich, Kent, including 3 of our satellite tagged young from this year.

It's been a fantastic season for the storks and we are looking forward to updating everyone on progress. We have had 26 wild chicks fledge at Knepp, 33 juveniles from the Cotswold Wildlife Park released at Knepp and 8 satellite tags deployed on the young. Updates to follow!

Join us on an aerial journey over some of the stork nests at Knepp, giving us a respectable bird’s-eye view of the contents of the nests across the rewilding project.
Collecting data through the season helps document breeding activity and informs us of nest success rates.

We are excited to share the latest update from Knepp, where we have 19 eggs in 7 nests so far! 🪺
We'll continue to monitor these throughout the breeding season but you can help us fund more #satellite tags to help us #research their #migration & survival at the link below:
Can you help us track the white #stork migration?
Help us raise £3,000 before May to cover cost of satellite tags. These will collect crucial data on the migration routes of juveniles released from @KneppWilding as part of @ProjectStork justgiving.com/campaign/whit…

GB9U followed a similar route to that in map one, and is currently exploring the wetlands of northern France.

Our storks have already been seen in France, Spain & Morocco this year, inc. GB6U & GB9U which fledged from Knepp last year, and GBA0 which was part of the @CotsWildTweets release in August 2022.

She most certainly is! She's the left-hand bird in the first photo, and has paired up with GB9A for the second year running😁🤞

Some of our storks have been enjoying the winter sun in France and Spain, but only time will tell if they decide to head back north this year!

The 2023 nesting season is well and truly underway at Knepp. With eleven active nests and birds sitting on at least five of these already, we're hopeful for another bumper breeding season! 🤞

Exciting news on the Wiveton White Stork. It's from a Dutch project (NLA on the side of coded ring). I'm awaiting more from the ringers. Thanks to @CleyBirds for confirming NLA & @bardseyobs @ProjectStork for their help with scheme information. Thx BE for seeing it early doors!
