It is a very sad day in the State of West Virginia. It’s hard to put into words what Ike means to me and to everyone who knew him. He wasn't just a very dear friend, he was family. We lost a great person and great West Virginian. Prayers to Sue, Shelly, Doug and his many friends. Love you Ike !

Fitting that Mike Ditka’s players gave him a legendary ride. Coach Ditka gave so much to so many. Many would agree that he is the most generous person they ever met. RIP.

Where it all started…. Hope and pray that Maricopa County Community College football is brought back!
Over the next several posts, we’re going to visit the former home fields of all four programs and take a look at what remains today.
The return of JUCO football has also become an issue in the 2026 Maricopa Community College Governing Board election, with candidates John Crow, Ryan Caracciolo, and Susan Winder publicly supporting its return.
What do you remember about football at these schools?

Helped Me and others when we were at our lowest!!!
Thank You just doesn't do it!!!!!! I've tied to pay it forward like so many others he's mentored!!
Coach Joe Kersting’s legacy goes far beyond his 114-44-2 record and NJCAA Hall of Fame career. He helped shape athletes, business and community leaders, husbands, fathers, and mentors. That is the legacy of JUCO football. It builds men who give back.

This would be great for Arizona. Young coaches and players need this in the Valley. Think it would help the Jucos out with numbers in the school.
Make the math work!
There is a group pushing hard to bring back JUCO football in Maricopa County. The contact is former Glendale Head Coach Joe Kersting and they are promoting 3 new MCCCD board members that would presumably bring back football. If that happens, I believe others would follow.
