The debate over the Times Square shooting is missing the point. A woman stabbed two people at random. Erin Piacenti, 32, was killed. A 68-year-old man was wounded. When police arrived, she still had the knives, refused to drop them, and said she’d rather kill the officers. Tasers failed. Then they stopped the threat. Armchair cops can say “just tackle her.” The people on that street didn’t have that luxury. Did NYPD do the right thing by shooting the knife-wielding attacker in Times Square?

There are a lot of armchair quarterbacks out there today…
