Great to stand with @RepMonicaDLC as we celebrate the Disabled Veterans Housing Support Act, which @POTUS signed into law. This means wounded veterans won’t have their disability benefits counted against them when they need HUD housing help. 🇺🇸

I joined @RepMonicaDLC and the Rio Grande Valley Builders Association in McAllen for a discussion on supporting Texas’s veterans and bringing down the cost of housing for families across Hidalgo County. We discussed how HUD is partnering with state and local leaders to cut expensive regulations, steward the HUD-VASH program to reduce veteran homelessness, and drive revitalization through Opportunity Zones.

The Trump Administration is expanding housing affordability options for more American families. In South Texas, @SecretaryTurner highlighted HUD’s efforts to help more families achieve the American Dream of homeownership.

Local partnerships are delivering results. Just finished touring Jaguar Heights in Edinburg with @RepMonicaDLC — a public-private partnership and community land trust pilot putting affordable homeownership within reach in the Rio Grande Valley. @AhstiInfo has originated $10.5M in loans and built 100+ homes, creating concrete pathways to homeownership for South Texans.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I am proud to support the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act. This critical legislation waives waiting periods for Social Security Disability Insurance and Medicare benefits, ensuring individuals with metastatic breast cancer receive immediate access to healthcare. We will continue to fight for the cure and ensure breast cancer patients have access to the lifesaving care and support they deserve. 🩷

Absolutely devastated to hear of the shooting at an elementary school in Bend, Oregon. My prayers are with the young lives lost, the injured, and their loved ones. May God bring comfort to their families tonight.

Yesterday, I toured the Pharr Home Depot store to visit with employees who keep South Texas moving forward! I was proud to vote in support of the Combatting Organized Retail Crime Act to keep our workers safe and prevent losses as well as secure no tax on tips and overtime. I will always stand up for the businesses and hard-working families that drive our community forward!

Yesterday, I hosted an Education Roundtable with leaders across South Texas on expanding career pathways for students and boosting the Texas workforce! By expanding savings plans for trade schools and introducing Workforce Pell Grants for skills-based certificate programs, we are creating powerful new opportunities South Texans to pursue their passions!

Yesterday, I hosted the first ever Brooks County Congressional Record Ceremony to present the Falfurrias Fire Department with an official Congressional Record honoring their 100 years of service. It was a privilege to celebrate this extraordinary milestone and their unwavering commitment to our community!

It was great to visit with the Asian American Hotel Owners Association in Alamo to discuss legislative priorities, including lowering costs by removing burdensome government regulations. I will continue to work to ensure our South Texas hospitality industry thrives!

Three years after the horrific attacks on October 7th, we remember the innocent lives lost and thank God for every hostage returned to safety. I will always stand against antisemitism and hate wherever it exists.
