Just your neighborhood Dockmaster taking a serious, quasi-historical, (mostly) sober look at some of the famous ships and other such things from science fiction

Just, y'know, floating around
You can learn more from any random Discworld book than you ever could hope to learn from The Great Gatsby.

I got full marks in English from 6th grade on. I never did course work, I just read books. Primarily Discworld. I would fill out a book report form for each book.

If you don't love TNG at "Code of Honor", you don't deserve TNG at "The Inner Light".

SIGNIFICANT Klingon D-7 vibes.
v4 is flying! ground-up redesign, 6 kg lighter, new propulsion system, stiffer structure, and rewritten firmware modules. hover stability is solid and control authority is significantly better. team’s been cooking

There's a reason why "losing" 30% of your game's revenue is actually a winning strategy.
>guy deletes his game library during mental health episodes (they aren't refunded) >asks if some games can be restored or if he can get a list of what he had >Steam Support restores everything If this were any other company I'd imagine they'd maybe get a 20% discount on their next purchase over 50 dollars or something. Thread in reply.

Pokey thing go BOING.

That's not a USAian carrier. That's not a USAian jet. And that's not the terminal approach angle for anti-ship cruise missiles (they also don't have over-the-shoulder color cameras). I know you're just a grifter, @almohamadawi31, but could you at least try?

It's always the episodes you don't expect...
It’s wild that pairing up what was originally a side character to a side character with a gimmicky guest star thrown into the mix for the final seasons resulted in the best episode of Star Trek ever

Wait, didn't y'all JUST do this? And no one thought to, I dunno, rotate passwords or JUST DISCONNECT THEM?
BREAKING: This morning’s cyberattack against supermarket fridges and freezers has now spread to Belgium, Sweden, Luxembourg and Estonia. The hackers increased the temperature up to 50C. Food worth millions of euros has been spoiled. Experts warn that such cyberattacks on supply chains and logistics can constitute a threat to national food security in many Western states.

You need to watch it, warts and all. Same with babylon5, skipping Sinclair is such a tragedy.

Theory: A Borg-like civilization that absorbs or kills the weak before they can become strong is the inevitable outcome of galactic competition, at least within its reasonable travel range.

Ah, yes, because obviously a single-seat fighter is equivalent to a commuter Learjet which is equivalent to a full-size airliner. One has to wonder if humies like this have ever left their domiciles, much less seen a ruler in their existences.
So just for the record… this is what it looks like when a plane flys strait into the ground at 500+ mph. That was a fucking missile. Probably the same type that hit the pentagon. This video haunts me not it has to haunt you too. God Speed Jimmy.

Bingo. TNG isn't serialized... but it's serialized ENOUGH that some important character developments do occur. Honestly if someone is a huge Stewart fan, it's lovely watching his characterization ripen and flower between ssn's 1 and 5 (not least because the costumes got comfier).

This is exactly why skipping the first two seasons is a bad idea. If you do that, you won't have the full context for how utterly ridiculous it is for Q to be in this situation to start with. Sure, it'd be superficially amusing, but devoid of all deeper meaning.
With the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart, I'm seeing numbers of people being interested in checking out Star Trek. This is one of my favorite moments in the entire franchise Deja-Q Season 3 episode 13 Q, a god-like being stripped of his powers and left stranded on the Enterprise explores what it means to be a human alongside the Android Data. Two of my favorite characters together for an entire episode, presenting two diametric viewpoints. To this day I sometimes quantify how bad of a mood I'm in with chocolate sundaes.

Amazing how you have live footage of an aircraft augering into your planet along with damned-near real-time footage of the crater and you STILL have conspiracy theory whackadoodles crawling out of the vegetation. Credit to humanity for being such a creative species, I guess.

A different time -- pre-2000s.. like vinyl records and well-choreographed albums, thoughtfully-crafted and conceived RPGs, classic world-building-focused novels and tight narrative tv series.. a bit before my time, admittedly .. but I seek those collections and realize their value instantly .. and i appreciate actually experiencing them than perhaps, simply consuming them.. today's folks - a bit younger.. utterly unlikely to invest themselves in any media.. one may say 'shallow' or unsophisticated or distracted or maybe just unable to 'collect' and cherish..

Humies always want to be lazy, even when doing something as lazy as watching television. It's kind of impressive after a fashion.

The answer is not, “skip season 1 and 2”, the answer is “don’t give up.”

Anyone who "unironically" advises new fans to skip past Measure of a Man should be ridiculed, reviled, and rejected. (And that's without even getting into Encounter at Farpoint laying down permanent foundations, or Skin of Evil doing the same.)
This is why I unironically advise people to start with S3 of TNG, tbh. Like there are maybe a handful of episodes from the first two seasons necessary viewing, but they are relatively few.
