🎉 What an incredible night at the Bay Area NixOS User Group meetup!
We had an amazing turnout tonight at @UCBerkeley OCF, and I’m still buzzing from the energy. The highlight? Getting to meet two legends of the Nix community in person — @n1ksnut , the creator of Nix himself, and @zimbatm , a deeply respected community member I’ve known for around 8 to 9 years but was finally meeting face to face for the very first time. Both visiting all the way from Europe made it extra special.
Moments like these are why I love co-organizing this community. Brilliant people, great conversations, and the kind of evening you don’t forget.
Huge thanks to #Berkeley OCF for hosting us — you made it all possible! 🙏 Thank you everyone who attended.

Check out mojolang.org/ Matt, it does that, and has advanced type system (eg linear types, symbolic constraints etc). I'd add "can target all hardware" to your wishlist. Mojo has you covered.
Let me know if you'd ever like to chat about it someday.
I’d argue Scala 3 and OxCaml are spearheading some of the most exciting developments in programming languages. Unfortunately they’re overshadowed by all the AI hype. But that’s temporary: their relevance to AI-generated code is already becoming clear and will only grow.
And if you think there’s no business case for this, why is Jane Street investing in OxCaml?
Their work on locality, uniqueness, and sharing has a lot of overlap with the problems we’re tackling in Scala 3. 5/5
I'm happy to share that Mojo and MAX are now fully open - for development, extension, and commercial use! This includes the full Mojo programming language, but also the MAX graph compiler, MLRT runtime internals, and hardware abstraction logic.
Get your agents going!👇

Thank you @mitchellh and the @superlogical team for the invite to Rex this week. So far loving it ❤️
Funny coincidence, that has lead to a lot of happiness: I started the week removing wezterm thinking end of an era having a terminal that I use Lua to configure and then shortly after that I got the email with the invite to use rex which gives me super powers with Lua.
Happy days 😎 #rex

Usually it's Scala devs running off to Rust. 🦀 Gus took the road less traveled: years in the Rust community, now writing Scala. Welcome to the JVM side, Gus! 👋

We've released ATC, a new open-source coding agent based on Tacit. It uses tracked capabilities to control what agents can do, and works with Claude and Codex subscriptions as well as API providers.
Funded by the Swiss Cyber-Defence Campus. Enjoy!
