After border officials turned me back from the West Bank last week, I spent a few hours on Mount Nebo. It is where Moses is said to have looked out across the land he was never allowed to enter. That view feels personal today. Millions of Palestinians are still denied entry to the towns and villages their families came from. What happens here reaches far beyond these borders. Allowing any state to strip people of their basic rights without consequence erodes human rights protections for everyone.

This week I was denied entry into the West Bank as part of an international delegation led by @ProgIntl. Solidarity is not a crime. Neither is being Palestinian. I will not be intimidated into silence. My full statement ā¬‡ļø

Whats happening in Palestine is unjust, our visit was peaceful in the hope to support Palestinian farmers and those facing illegal settler violence. From the border, this is what I had to say as it happened.

Today I was denied entry into the West Bank, alongside other parliamentary colleagues from across Europe as part of a @ProgIntl delegation. We were held for 8 hours, interrogated and ultimately prevented from crossing the border. I came to stand alongside Palestinians being attacked for harvesting olives on their own land. Instead, we were turned away, with no reason given. More than ever, Palestinians are being subject to terror and violence by the IDF and illegal settlers. Increased blockades, demolitions and unthinkable violence have become the norm for Palestinians in the West Bank. It is more important now than ever that we bear witness and show our solidarity. But we were prevented from doing so. I will continue to do everything I can to apply pressure on the Netanyahu government, and those responsible for the persecution and genocide of the Palestinian people.

I have been detained by Israeli security forces all day. Along with with MPs @labourlewis, @larabirdsnp, MSP Kate Nevans, former MP @SamTarry and campaigners from across the world, we were turned back because they don’t want anyone seeing their ethnic cleansing.

Yesterday, I was barred from entering the West Bank by Israeli officials, as part of a @ProgIntl delegation. What's happening here in Palestine is unjust. We've just witnessed what Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and many others have called a genocide unfold in Gaza. We came here to show the world, and to show solidarity with the Palestinian people. The Israeli government didn't allow that.

Andy Haldane and Will Hutton argue that we can have public control over water without public ownership. The key is to create new privately owned ā€œpublic-benefit companiesā€. But there are some issues with this argument.🧵 theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Yesterday was an absolute whirlwind. We finally saw a record number of MPs step up and support public ownership of water, something I’ve spent years fighting for. To top it off, I got to chat with @BeckyHill, who dropped by to show her support, look me in the eye, and say, ā€œThis is the Hill I’ll die on.ā€ Public ownership of water is closer than ever. Help us get to the finish line by adding your name šŸ‘‡
