His default mode is aggression. Especially with women.
Trump: We were in the midst of negotiating and a lot of stupid people said why aren’t you putting Russian sanctions— Collins: But you said you didn’t give anything for his release Trump: If I didn’t do that, you wouldn’t have him coming back. Collins: So you did give something. Trump: You don’t know anything. You’re fake news CNN. Collins: You’re saying you lifted the sanctions in exchange for his release? Trump: You don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re a low IQ person. You’re a dummy.

A few highlights from the week’s programming: Roundtable with Congressman Jason Crow (@RepJasonCrow) on the Use of Force: Congressman Crow joined Council Senior Advisor to the CEO Eric Pierce to discuss national security and the use of force. Abiding Hunger: Why Food Insecurity Persists in America: Devita Davison, Amy Laboy, @RogerThurow, and Catherine Bertini (@C_A_Bertini) examined why food insecurity persists despite America’s extraordinary abundance and what can be done to expand reliable access to food. Roundtable with Jonathan Cheng (@JChengWSJ): The @WSJ’s China Bureau Chief joined Council members for a private discussion on US-China relations and his experiences as a journalist in Asia. We have to think about collapsing Trump poll numbers and Rs turning on him the same way we'd think about finally being able to corner a rabid raccoon in your garage. Good news: he's out of options. Bad news: he's a rabid raccoon.
😳 Trump loses it and SNAPS at a string of reporters, says Ilhan Omar might "go to jail," calls Somalia "a shit house," and boasts that thanks to a new program he announced today Americans "will make millions of dollars by turning others in" during absolutely deranged Oval Office event Here's a supercut:

This is of course true. Which is why all of us should not only call it out but also call Donald Trump for being the one using the term. The guy who has previously said he only wants "short guys that wear yarmulkes" counting his money. To give him a pass is to normalize hatred.
The term “Shylock” is rooted in a longstanding antisemitic stereotype. Regardless of intent, its use can reinforce harmful tropes about Jews and normalize language that has long been used to target the Jewish community.
Community note
The term was used (for at least the second intent in as many years) by President Trump. forbes.com/sites/siladity… Important context to point out the user of the term regardless of intent.

I've long maintained that the Republican party won't heal until the rank and file denies any connection to the Trump brand and his grandchildren are embarrassed to bear his name. We ain't there yet... but this is what the start down that road looks like. nytimes.com/2026/10/19/us/po…

For no particular reason, here's a funny civics story. Last week, I stopped in to chat with students at LaGrange Highlands Middle school who were learning about the Constitution...

10. But it is charming and amusing to see these bunch of students from U Chicago who have decided to move the Onion Overton window with their (mass?) mobilization outside the CME this week. instagram.com/reel/Desd3z7Tu…

11. And if nothing else, perhaps a 7th grader at LaGrange Highlands will someday end up going to U Chicago and standing on the shoulders of the giants who have come before to build the social movement that builds the political will to repeal this law. :) /fin
