The FCC MUST reject the request made by a Republican group that would allow political groups to make robocalls to cell phones without people’s permission. Putting Americans in a position where they can be fed misinformation through AI-generated deception ahead of a crucial election is yet another attempt by Republicans to mislead voters. The risk here is severe: unleashing a Pandora’s box of election mis- and disinformation made more believable with AI. I am incredibly alarmed about the alleged attempt by a white supremacist to commit an act of mass violence at a Hindu temple in Aurora, Illinois, and I thank law enforcement for their swift response. Taxpayer dollars are not Trump’s personal propaganda fund. This court order is a win for taxpayers, but stopping the ads is only the beginning. Americans deserve answers about every dollar spent. That’s why I’ve demanded a thorough investigation into these ads and that all records are preserved. Now we need answers: Who approved them, how much was spent, and who will be held accountable.

DHS must immediately release all body camera footage and ensure a full, independent investigation. When excessive force is used, there must be accountability. That’s why Senate Democrats fought for enforceable safeguards holding ICE agents to the same standards as other law enforcement officers.   DHS can make all the claims it wants.
